This invention relates to a wire clamp of that class which is employed for securing together in parallel relation two wires to secure not only a mechanical junction but a perfect electrical contact; the device having many uses in the electrical industry.
The object of the invention is to provide a wire clamp that shall consist of few parts, and those parts so arranged that they are linked together at all times and may be easily attached to the wires to hold the same together in a rigid manner.
Another object of the invention is to provide a wire clamp so constructed that wires 1% of different sizes may be held together and a particular size of clamp may have a capacity for several sizes of wires.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a wire clamp of strong construction 29 combined with small size and great gripping power.
With these and other objects in View, my invention consists in certain novel construction and combination of parts as will here- 55 inafter be fully described and claimed, and which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views, but it is understood that slight chan es may be made without departing from t e spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings Two electrical wires or conductors 10 and 11 are shown, which it is desired to secure together in parallel relation, and this is accomplished by a wire clamp which is formed of two members 12 and 19; the member 12 0 being formed with a head 13 provided with 1930. a central hole; and a depending threaded stud or portion 23 having its axis in parallel relation to the axis of said hole; and on this threaded portion is placed a locking nut 16 which is formed with a conical end 17 adapted to engage with a conical shaped depression 14 which is formed in the end' of the hole in the head 13, so that the nut 16 will tend to lclenter the threaded portion ,15 within the ole.
' The second member 19 is similar to the first member 12, but the head 21 is bifurcated for the reception of the threaded porof the other member which is provided with a nut 24 having a conical end engaging a conical recess formed in the head 21; and both the head 12 and the head 19 are formed with alined notches 18 and 20 adapted to engage the wires 10 and 11 keeping them in parallel relation.
Referring to Figure 4, in applying the clamp to the wires, which has to be done in many cases from the side of long wires where the clamp can not be slipped over the end; the clamp being in the semi-assembled state as shown, with the nuts 16 and 24 near the ends of the threaded portions 15 and 23; the member 19 is swung outward from the member 12; this being possible by diameter of the hole in the head 13 being much greater than the diameter of the threaded portion 15; thus allowing the wires to be passed between the bifurcated head 21 and the nut 24 of the other member.
The two members are then brought together with the bifurcated head 21 embracing the threaded portion 23 of the other memher, and the nuts 16 and 24 are then tightened as shown in the Figure 2, thus securing the clamp to the wires 10 and 1-1.
In the modified form shown in Figure 5, the member 26 is formed with a threaded portion 27 having a nut 16 which is formed with a conical end 17 engaging a recess in the head 30 which forms a part of the second member 29 which is provided with a hole for the reception of the portion 27, and with a second opening 32 for the reception of a tongue 28 which is formed on the member 26; thus providing a hinge coupling for the two members, as the head 30 is blfurcated to allow of its being Withdrawn from the threaded member 27 after the nut 16 has been loosened.
In the modified form shown in the Figure 6, the member 33 is provided with the threaded portion 34 having the nut 16; and the outer end of said member 33 is formed witha lip 35 which is adapted to be engaged by a hook 38 which is formedon the member 36, which is also formed with the bifurcated head 37 this construction also providing another form of hinge junction.
Having thus described my invention, what- I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A clamp for securing two or more wires together, comprising a pair of clamping members each of which is formed with a head and a threaded portion, clamping nuts threaded thereon and formed with a conical end, one of said clamping members formed with a hole in the head thereof adapted to receive the threaded portion of the other member, and the other member formed with a bifurcated head adapted to receive the threaded portion of the first member, both of said members formed with parallel notches to engage the Wires.
