IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING TABLES..
Specification Iormng part of Letters Patent No. 152,369, dated September 19, 1876; application filed i February 21, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES M. KIMBALL, of Woodstock, McHenry county, Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Folding Table, of which the following isaspeciication:
The invention consists ot' an under framepivoted to one of the middle boards, so as to swing around in line with it for folding, and crosswise of it for setting up the table, in which latter position it stands on two legs which support one end, and locks with the legs of the other end, so as to hold the table upright; and it has a weighted hook for hooking the two sections of the table together, making a simple and efficient folding table.
Figure 1 is a plan ot' the under side of a folding table contrived according to my invention, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation on line .fr m,`Fig. 1. Fig. 3 isa plan view, showing the table in a folded position.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding' parts.
A represents the under frame, which is pivoted to board B so as to swing around to the position represented by dotted lines C, for folding. It has a weighted latch, D, for
fastening the board E to the frame by the catch F; and it also has the legs G, which fold up and have weighted latches El for fasteningytheni in the upright position. At the other end said frame enters between baz-I and leaf J for holding that portion ofthe table upright.y
The boards J and E are hingedtogether, and so are the boards B and K, so as to fold compactly when the table is to be put away. The studs L and M are to prevent the frame A from sliding too far each way, and the rod N is for unhooking the weighted latch D when the table is to be taken down.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The frame A, pivoted to board B, having legs G and weighted latch D hinged to it, and combined with boards J E and bar I, and also with board K, substantially as specified.
