It is an object of my invention to provide, preferably in association with fountain pen or similar device, a receptacle for retaining writing fluid whereby an auxiliary vessel is provided to replenish the supply of writing fluid or ink of the fountain pen, which auxiliary supply and receptacle 'therefor may be conveniently carried and furnish the required ink in an emergency, with no greater inconvenience in the size and bulkiness of the device than that usually occasioned by the normal-sized fountain pen. A still further object of my invention resides in the provision of an -auxiliary receptacle or reservoir for supplying an emergency quantity of Z0 fluid, such as ink, which may be conveniently and coinpactly associated with existing types of fountain pens for use therewith, to replenish at will the normal supply of ink carried by the fountain pen. It is contemplated by my invention to provide an auxiliary receptacle for retaining writing ink of such conipact vsize as to add no material increase in dimension to the normal fountain pen, the receptacle being capable of use with the socalled self-filler type of fountain pen, which is filled by the vsuction of a rubber sack through the nib or point of a fountain pen.

lt is contemplated by my invention to so form the closure for a receptacle whereby the tipping of the pin or nib within the re ceptacle will serve to properly feed the requisite amount of fluid to the pen and leave the mouth of the receptacle in a condition whereby, upon application of the closure,

overflowing of the device or soiling of the hands in handling the device will be avoided. It is still further contemplated by my invention to provide a receptacle capable of carrying fluids, such as writing ink and a closure therefor which will ensure against any leakn age of the fluid, no matter in what position or condition the device is carried, whereby the receptacle and closure therefor may be conveniently associated with a fountain pen,

auxiliary reservoir or chamber for carrying an auxiliary supply of writing Huid which may be used to replenish the normal quantity carried in a self-filling fountain pen.

It is therefore still further contemplated by my invention to provide a receptacle for fluids, such as writing ink and a closure therefor, the receptacle and closure having a connecting joint to assure against leakage when in use, the device including an overflow safety seal whereby the receptacle may be filled to its full capacity without danger of soiling the parts handled by the user and, further, whereby the nib or pen point may be dipped into the receptacle, even when full, without danger of overflowing and soiling the parts normally handled by the user.

Still further objects of my invention reside in the provision of a receptacle for fluids,

such as writing inlr, and a closure therefor acting in thc nature of a seal whereby the receptacle may be associated with a fountain pen, such as the cap thereof, of a size no greater than the normal dimensions of the fouiitain pen, the mouth of the receptacle being formed whereby. the nib or point may be dipped tliereiiito even when full without overflowing of the fluid about the mouth or neck of the receptacle, and soiling the hands f of the user, at the same time providing an efficient seal for the receptacle whereby the saine may be carried about in the pocket of an individual, in any position, without danger of overflowing or loss of the contents thereof.

Other objects of my invention reside in the provision of a new and novel construction in fountain pens providing compactness and lealrproofness of those portions of a fountain pen which are to retain fluids, such as writing ink, whereby the saine may be used in connection with auxiliary receptacles or other parts thereof for retaining fluids, suoli as writing ink, all of which will be neat and attractive and simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

In Figure 4I have illustrated my novel device wherein the cap 12 of a fountain pen has integrally formed thereon a vessel 20', the bottom wall 2llbeing molded, turned or otherwise formed from the material normally used for the fountain pen cap. A neck 23 and closure 28 are provided as in the embodiment described in Figures l, 2 and 3. In the embodiments thus far described, it will be observed that though it is preferred that the interior of the closure make screw threaded engagement with the vessel, I may have a friction fit between these two parts and due to the sinuous path provided by the spaced walls corresponding to the

in Figures 5 and 6 I have illustrated a vessel 36 in the nature of a small capsule which may be conveniently carried about in the vest pocket or the like so that it need not be associated directly with the fountain pen or the cap thereof. This vessel is provided with a neck 37 and closure 38 of the same construction as previously described in connection with the neck 23 and closure 2S, in the embodiment where I use my invention in association with, or as part of, a fountain pen. Thus, I have provided a small vessel or capsule which may be conveniently carried about without any undue bulkiness in size, to have in readiness a quantity of ink for replenishing the normal supply of ink carried In Figure 7 I have illustrated my invention as associated with another form of a 'eadily portable vessel. Interior of said box-like members there may be disposed capsules or vessels, such as 36,of dimensions fitting snugly within the boxes, leaving flanges 42 disposed above the upper wall 43 of the capsule. It will be understood, however, that the

39 and 40 may be made from a plastic composition, such as a phenolic condensation resin, known as-bakelite, rubber or Celluloid, integrally molded. In this form of device the neck and closures therefor 44 are disposed olf center, leaving a clearance space 45, within each box-like member. The closures 44 and the neck which they serve to cover are of the same general construction as described in connection with the neck 23 and closure 28. These members may be hinged in superimposed position with the tion.V In this manner I provide two complemental vessels which may be lused to hold additional quantities of writing fluid, preferably, if so desired, each of dierent colo or quality.

It will be further observed that though I have described these devices as suitable for use for carrying writing fluid, other liquid material may be retained therein. f

VIn Figure 8 I have described a still further embodiment of my invention wherein a fountain pen body 48 is shownv associated with the closure contemplated by my invention. This fountain pen may be of the selffiller type orof Vthe type wherein the' ink chamber 49 may be filled by means other than the rubber sack or similar suction device provided inthe usual fountain pen, such as by an eye dropper or pippet. The neck 50 is so formed as in the construction shown for the vessel 20 previously described and a closure 51 is provided, having the same general character as the closure 28. Through this closure, however, I may dispose the feed member 52 and nib 53 by providing an orifice 54. A gasket 55 is disposed immediately within the cap, corresponding to the gasket 35, and this is also similarly oriliced to correspond to the 'general cross section of the feed member 52 and nib 53. In all other' respects, the neck 50 and closure 5l include the'elements of the neck and closure of the embodiments previously described and illustrated. i

By this construction I provide the body of the fountain pen with an efficient closure, having all the features described in the receptacle of the previous embodiment.

In Figure 9 I have shown Va still further embodiment whereby the receptacle 20 may serve to position and fix a fountain pen clip upon a cap of a fountain pen 12a. In this embodiment I provide a clip 55 having an anchoring ring 56, preferably integral therewith. This ring has the same general dimensions as the threaded neck portion 2l of the vessel and for purposes of aflixing the clip in position, the ring is eXteriorly disposed upon the neck and then the neck of the vessel is screw threaded upon the cap 12a. Thus I may quickly associate the vessel 20 with a fountain pen cap 12a, substituting for the clip holding means in this well known type of fountain pen clip, the vessel 20, the vessel providing the requisite means for holding the fountain pen, in addition to associating the desirable features of the receptacle.

Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-` l. In an ink carrying receptacle including Viu a restricted neck arranged to substantially snugly t a fountain pen and nib, a closure therefor, means for connecting said closure to ksaid receptacle including a sealing joint for said neck .comprising complemental snugly inte-riitting spaced Walls von said neck and closure.

2. In an ink carrying receptacle, including a restricted neck, a closure therefor, means for connecting said closure to said neck including a sealing joint compri-sing spaced complemental annular interfiting walls on said neck and closure having means to drain the walls lto the interior of said receptacle lforrned onsaid neck.

3. In an 'ink carrying receptacle, including a restricted neck, va closure therefommeans for connecting -sa-id closure to said neck 1nc'ludinlg a sealing joint comprising-a plurality `of complemental snugly fitting, annular spaced Walls on said neck and closure respectively having butt joint engagement between said Walls and said closure.

4. In an ink carrying receptacle, including a restricted neck, a closure therefor, means for connecting said closure to said neck including a sealing joint comprising complemental snugly fitting, `annular spaced Walls on said neck and closure respectively having butt joint engagement between said Walls and said closure and means for tensioning said closure in butt joint engagnient coniprising screw threaded members, sai-d Walls in the neck of said receptacle, including a drain, leading to the interior of said receptacle, and a complemental wall on said closure to clear sai-d Walls in positioning the closure.
