1 Z y I Inventor ,jkfizaaZWi'Z b Attorney Patented Aug. 18, 1931 SAMUEL WISSIG, OF SUSAN 1 1L125 CALIFORNIA BOOK OF TOOTHPICKS Application filed March 29, 1930. Serial No. 440,100.
This invention relates to a book of toothpicks, and an object of the invention is to provide for carrying a store of toothpicks on'the person for his individual needs, that 5 is extremely sanitary and useful. Further objects of the invention are to provide a device of the character referred to that is strong, compact and durable, thoroughly reliable for its intended purpose, very simple in its method of assembly, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture and use. v
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of a novel con- 15 struction, combination, and arrangement of parts, as willbe hereinafter specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is disclosed anembodiment of the invention, but itisfto be modifications may be resorted to'without departing from the spirit of the claim hereto appended.
in the drawings wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views Figure l is a top plan view of the book of toothpicks in accordance with the present invention, in open position.
Fig. 2 is a vertical detailed section through the device in closed position, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the anchor block.
Referring to the drawings in detail,
understood that changes, variations, andwherein for the purpose of illustration is 4. The walls of the grooves are coated with a very light solution of glue, and the lower ends of rows of toothpicks 8, 9 are inserted in the grooves, thereafter the lock is com pressed so that the glue will anchor about 50 stiff paper 11, one end of which is anchored u by staples 12 to one face of the block. The remaining portion of the cover 10 is folded about the bottom and other side of the block and trained over the tooth picks making a fold 13 over the pointed ends ofthe upstanding toothpicks.
The end of the cover 10 is tucked behind the free edge of the anchored portion of the sheet to hold the cover in place over the upstanding rows of tooth picks. The method of holding the cover in folded position is clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
Thus it will be seen when it is desired to use a toothpick the cover 10 may he slipped from the holding edge and a tooth pick withdrawn from the groove of the block 4. Thereafter, the cover is closed about the tooth picks whereupon they may be carried in the pocket in a sanitary condition.
While I have shown the cover 10 anchored to the block 4 by means ,of staples, it is within the contemplation of the invention to glue the lower portion of the covertothe block instead of using staples.
The present embodiment ofthe invention has been disclosed in considerable detail merely for the purpose of exemplification, since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It is to be understood that by describing in detail herein any particular form, structure, or arrangement, it is *not intended to limit the invention beyond the terms of the W claim, or the requirements of -the prior art. Having thus described my invention, what I claim asnew is A tooth pick holder comprising a block 5 a. longitudinally extending oove therein, and a row of tooth picks eac formed with a. pointed end and a blunt end, with the blunt end frictionally held in the groove and a cover member having a partiattached to fihe block and extending overvthe tooth pic s. s In testimony whereof I aflix my "signature.
is SAMUEL WISS'I'G.
