This invention relates to curtain fixtures,

and has in view lto provide-a simple arrangement whereby a number of different torms ot curtain and shade brackets may be interchangeably mounted on a window frame without'the necessity of forming diilerent 'fastener holes in the` frame for the various different brackets.

The invention contemplates the provision l@ of a base plate adapted to be permanently mounted on a window frame, and anyvdesired )but are y p other suitable or desired manner, to include y number of different shade and curtain bracket elements adapted to be interchangel ably mounted on said base plate, and in con- 5 nection with this general scheme, it is aurther purpose of the invention to provide a base plate and brackets of .attractive design which may be produced cheaply and easily from sheet metal by a stamping operation, and to provide a simple, effective means for quickly detachably securing any particular bracket on the base plate positively in any one of a plurality of diiierent positions. Vith the foregoing and other purposes in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated' in the accompanying drawings and deiined in the appended claims.

Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings illustrate a base plate A having a plurality of sockets 14, while Fig. 5` illustrates a second form of base plate A having only a single socket formed thereon. The particular use to which the base plates are to be put- Will, of course,

determine the number of such sockets 14 to; be pro-vided thereon, in which connection it is manifest that the number of sockets is ope tonal'and in differentbase plates may be variedv at will.

Each' socket@ is formed. with s central v1 opening 16 to permit the insertion 'therethro-ugh, from the front of the base, of a short cap screw 17 for engagement with the nut 15 to detachably secure a curtain or shade bracket to the base.

As illustrated in Figs. 6 to 17, various shapes and forms of brackets may be provided, each adapted for detachable interchangeable attachment to any given base plate. The differences between the various brackets illustrated are believed to be apparent from the drawings and'it is not believed, therefore, that additional detailed explanation of such differences is necessary. It is particularly to be noted with respect to each of said brackets, however, that same is inclusive of a base 18, and that said base is pressed or otherwise formed with a po-cket 19 of a size and shape to receive a socket 14 of a base plate A or A etc. Thus, any bracket adapted to be engaged in any one of a plurality of different rotated positions with any base plate.

The sockets of the base plate neatly fit into the pockets of the brackets, whereby the latter will be positively held against shifting or rotating out of position. The wall constituting the outer end of each pocket 19 is aperture as at 20 for the accommodation of the screw 17 previously mentioned.

As illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the base plates A and A may be-secured in different positions on a window frame, but it will be obvious that brackets of various other desired forms may be interchangeably attached to the same base plates, whereby marring or otherwise injuring the window frame when the brackets are changed will be entirely avoided.

While there have been disclosed in this specification several forms in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that these forms are shown for the purp-ose of illustration only, and that the invention is not to be limited to the specific dis closures but may be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit. In short, the invention includes all the modifications and embodiments coming within the scope of the following claims.

Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new, and for which it is desired to secure Letters Patent, is:

1. A curtain fixture comprising, in co1nbination a base plate having a polygonal raised portion adapted to be permanently secured to a Window frame, and a curtain bracket having a corresponding polygonal recess adapted i for inter-fitting engagement in a plurality of different angular positions with the cooper ating polygonal raised portion on the base plate. i y

2. vA .curtain fixture compris-ing a base piate adapted to be secured permanently to a window frame, a polygonal hollow socket formed on said base plate, a polygonal nut disposed within said socket, a bracket having a polygonal pocket adapted to receive said socket, and a screw adapted to be passed through said bracket and said socket and threaded into said nut to secure said bracket to said base plate.

3. A curtain fixture comprising a base plate adapted t-o be secured permanently to a window frame, a polygonal nut retained between said bracket and the window fra-rnc, an offset polygonal socket on the outer face of said base plate, a bracket having a polygonal pocket to receive said socket, and a screw adapted to be passed through said bracket and threaded into said nut to secure the bracket to the base plate.

4;. A curtain fixture comprising a base plate having a rearwardly directed marginal flan ge adapted to be engaged against the face of a window frame, means for securing said base plate permanently to the window frame, said base plate being formed from sheet metal pressed to provide an outwardly extending polygonal hollow socket, a nut fitting within said socket between the base plate and the face of the window frame, a curtain bracket having a polygonal pocket to receive said socket, and a screw adapted to be passed through said bracket and threaded into said nut to detachably connect said bracket with said base.

5. A curtain fixture comprising, in combination a base plate having a square raised portion adapted to be permanently secured to a window frame, and a curtain bracket having a square recess adapted for interfitting engagement in a plurality of different angular positionswith the cooperating square raised portion on the base plate.
