IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-STICKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180,919, dated August 8, 1876 application filed J une 17, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Beit known that I, DANIEL B. POND, of Woonsocket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Clothes-Sticks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part ot' this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a side view of my clothes-stick in process one end of this stick I. make a saw-kerl", as shown at a, Fig. l. I then drive on a band, b, which prevents the kerf from extending beyond the required length. A wedge, c, is then driven into the crotch of the kerf, which leaves the two prongs d d separated and forms a fork. The wedge c is secured in its place by means of a rivet, c.
This stick is used for stirring and turning clothes in a wash-boiler; also, for lifting the clothes out of a boiler without burning the hands.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, the stick A, forked and provided with a wedge, c, and a band, b, in the manner and for the purpose described.
