Description

J. T. SENN.
Improvement .in BeIt-Clasp.
No. 133,061. Patented N0v.12,1872.
WITNESSES. INVENTOR.
UNITED STATES JOHN T. SENN, OF TROY, ALABAMA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO SIMON SCHWARZ, OF SAME PLACE.
nMPRovEMENT IN BELT-cLAsPe.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,061, dated November l2, 1872.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, JOHN T. SENN, of Troy, in the county of Pike and State of Alabama, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Belt-Buckles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a front view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of my invention. Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the plates, showing the inside of my invention.
My invention has relation to belt-buckles, and consists in the construction and novel arrangement of a pair of hinged clamps by means of which the ends of a belt may be connected without sewing or rivets, substantially as hereinafter described.
-Referring to the drawing, A A represent the hinged clamps, each of which consists of two curved plates, a af, hinged together, b b being the hinge-pins.o The upper plates are shorter than the lower plates, and have their ends bent between the two plates and held tightly by teeth e projecting from the inner surfaces of t-he plates, as shown. The two clamps are ileX- ibly connected by means of a link, h, passing from one to the other of the pins b, as shown. The ends of the belt cannot be pulled out of the clamps, as any direct strain tends to close the plates more tightly together.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a buckle, the combination, with the curved and slotted clamps A, of the connecting-link h, substantially as specied.
2. The buckle-clamp A, consisting of apair of curved and serrated plates a a', slotted at their ends, the slot ot' the longer plate a being beyond the end of the shorter plate a, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN T. SENN.
Witnesses N. BLAIR, I. W. HARTSFIELD.
