This inventionhas utility when incorporated in palm and gauntlet connections for hand covers, especially combination leather and fabric gloves wherein it is desirable to have the region of flexibility between the hand and gauntlet.

fabric back lower edge 11 of the fabric back This fabric back 12 has narrowed upper extension 13 upon which are mounted finger backs 14, 15, 16, in completing the general hand structure when taken in conjunction with little finger back 17 having hand back cross-over 18 as a knuckle facing strap. Additionally, reinforcement and facing is provided by strip 19 adjacent the little finger side of the palm extending wristward, the full distance of the back 12, and accordingly beyond the distance of the palm 1 and thumb back 8.

Gauntlet 20 say of stiifened fabric is shown as having facing 21 remote from the wrist and front leather facing 22 with extension 23 frombeyond the wrist portion to the palm portion and accordingly beyond the gauntlet 20 as connected by stitching 21 to the back 11. This stitching 24 extends entirely about the gauntlet and thus provides a stitching region toward the gauntlet 20 from the facing extension 23, which facing extension 23 is connected by stitching 25 to the palm 1 at the edge 9 parallel to the stitching 24. This not only provides a ledge or hump clear reion between the gauntlet and the palm, but in this region of the facing 23 between the parallel stitchings 24, 25, there is flexibility between the gauntlet and palm contributing to ease in wearing the glove as well as to the life of the hand covering. I

Furthermore, crotch and mount facing 26 I is shown extending by portion 27 to the gauntlet proper at the back of the hand and adjacent the side of the gauntlet extension facing 23. The leather thumb crotch and mounting facing 26 on the palm side has extension 28. The terminus of this facing 26 extends over the stitching 25 to provide a smooth clearway at the inner. palm portion, and with the extension 28 extending through slot 29 of the gauntlet facing 22 to be located between the facing 22 andthe outer side of the gauntlet 20 and there assembled by the stitching 2 1.

Additionally, the holding of the glove against casual slipping off is effected by elastic strap 30 between the facing strip 19 and the portion 27 of the thumb crotch reinforcement. In addition to the double stitching 24, 25, double stitching 31 is provided along the index finger portion 3 from the wrist and accordingly including the side of extension 23 adjacent the thumb reinforcement 27. The facing 19 at its side adjacent the canvas 12 is also provided with double stitching 32. The remainingportions of the facing and fabric are assembled by single stitching lines 33.

Clearance region 34 of canvas only between the strap 18 and the fingers permits a flexibility for the fingers, while the knuckles at the hand are faced by the strap 18 and the knuckles along the fingers are faced by the finger backs. The stitching in the fingers is along the finger backs and between only the first and second and the third and fourth fingers, with the stitching along the front of the intermediate fingers.

The gauntlet facing 22 at its edges and extending from the flexing portion 23 has cars 35, 36, astride the gauntlet 20 so that the stitching 24 holds these ears on the underside of the gauntlet 20 in effecting a strong joint with smooth finish near the edges of the hand portion.

lVhat is claimed and it is desired to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A hand covering having a gauntlet, a

v palm spaced from the gauntlet to provide clearance therebetween, a gauntlet facing bridging said clearance, a thumb, and a facing extending from the thumb crotch over the palm and bridging portion to the gauntlet.

2. A hand covering having a palm section shorter than the back section, a complete fully stiffened gauntlet having a front portion spaced from the palm section, and a palm base section having a gauntlet face extension therefrom in shape to form a filler in the space between the gauntlet and palm section and to connect with the palm section and to provide at said space a region of flexibility.
