To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM ANDREW LYNN, of New York, county of New York, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fur-Set Box, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact de scriptiou, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specificat on, which represents a perspective view of my improved box, with the extension or hinged end dropped down.

The object of my invention is to furnish a strong, cheap, easily-constructed, and durable fur-set box, that will contain and protect the collar as well as the muff, and form a convenient show-case for .the dealer, and which will also enable the purchaser to neatly fold and deposit the collar as in an open box, thus keeping the collar in a folded state, and preventing it from being crushed, as it is liable to be when deposited in pockets or slidedrawers.

The box A is constructed of pasteboard of ordinary thickness, and is of a rectangular shape, with one end left open. Within this box the innit-cylinder Bis placed in contact with the closed endor side, and it is fastened thereto firmly with paste or glue its entire length. The box A being open at one end as well as on the top enables the workman to place the mufl cylinder in position, and to fasten the same with glue or paste firmly. This mutt-cylinder is made of pasteboard, in the usual manner, and of usually the same thickness of material as the box.

The gluing or pasting of the cylinder firmly its entire length to the three sides of the main box is of great advantage in staying both the box and cylinder.

To supply the end left open in the box, I construct a tray, 0, or open box, made of the same material and thickness as the other parts of the box, with the sides and ends to correspond in height with the space left between stays or stops 1) and the end of the box, so that when it is closed or put in place the tray or extension will exactly fit and form the end of the box. I hinge this tray or collar-box C 4 to the main-box, usuallyv at its lower edge, so

it can be lifted up in place without trouble. I also place upright pieces of wood at a suitable distance from the open end of the box, to admit the tray or collar-box to fit up to them when closed up. These upright pieces D are fastened firmly to the box by means of glue or paste, and serve to strengthen and firmly keep up the open-part of the box, and also serve to stop the tray or end when lifted in place. I

The top or cover G is of the usual construction,'and the material the same as the other parts of the box.

I prefer, usually, to provide it with a deep flange, to morese-curely hold the whole when in place. 7

I am aware that fur-set boxes have been made provided with a muff-cylinder and a recess or space,'or with a drawer for the collar,

and I therefore do not claim these; but

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The main box A, provided with the cylindrical muff-box B, and with the strengthening-ribs and stops l), in combination with the collar box or tray 0, hinged to and folding within the open side or end of the box A, against the stops D, all arranged and operating substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
