Description

J. .W. BRAY.
NURSING -B0'ITLE SUPPORTS.
Patented J1i1y18. 1876.
mes.
ATEN'r JOHN WV. BRAY, OF MIDDLETOWN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN NURSING-BOTTLE SUPPORTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,995, dated July 18, 1876; application filed June 16, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN WV. BRAY, of Middletown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Gonnecticut,.have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Support for Nursing- Bottles, of which the following is a specification This invention relates to an improved support for infants nursing-bottles, its object being to provide a device by means of which the bottie may be supported upon the sides of a crib, bed, or other article of furniture while the infant is nursing, and thus relieve the mother or nurse of the tedious task ofholding. the bottle in position.
The invention consists in a bracket, constructed of any suitable material, preferably of metal, provided with a seat on top for the bottle, and with a suitable jaw and clampingscrew below, by means of which it can be attached in any desired position to a proper support.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the support with the bottle applied, and
. Fig. 2 an end view of the support.
The letter A represents a bracket, construoted of any suitable material, in the pres ent instance being made of cast-iron. The said bracket is formed with two upwardly-projecting standards, the top of one of which serves as a seat for the neck and the other for the body of thebottle, each being provided with upright arms B B, for confining the bottlein position, the forward standard being also formed with an offset or projection, 0, against which the front of the neck rests to assist in holding the bottle-stopper in'place. The lower part of said bracket is formed with a jaw, E, which is provided with a clamping-screw, F, by means of which the bracket can be secured to any suitable support and held in any convenient position,
The operation of my apparatus is as follows: Theja-w E is placed under the upper bar of a crib, int'ants bed, or other suitable support, and the apparatus clamped thereto by means of the upright arms, which embrace its sides at the body and neck. The apparatus can then be adjusted to any position supporting the bottle desired, thus doing away with the necessity of holding it while the child is nursing.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
v 1. A support for a nursing-bottle, consisting of a bracket provided with a seat on its top for holding the bottle, and with ajaw and clamping-screw below, by means of which it can be attached to a suitable support, and held in any desired position, substantially as described.
2. In combination with the bracket, pro- I vided with a jaw and screw-clamp for attaching it to a support, the arms attached to said bracket, and offset at the front of the same for confining the bottle-stopper in place, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing 'I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
