IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING BED-BOTTOMS..
Speeication forming part of Letters Patent No, 179,613, dated July 4, 1876; application file April 4, 1876.
To all whom lif may concern:
Be it known that I, JONAS HOUSE, of Dowagiaz, in the county ot' Cass and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Spring Bed-Bottoms; and I do hereby declare that the following,` is a tnll, clear, and exact description thereof, which Will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accomnanyingg` drawing, forming' part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a plan or top view of the springbed.
Similar letters of' reference indicate like parts.
My invention consists in the combination, with a rope running` lengthwise of a bedbot toni, ot' a bow-shaped stretcher, in such a manner that it opera-tes to keep the rope strained,
whereby a cheap and etieient spring bed-bottoni is obtained.
A A designate the cross-bars proper in the hea-d and eot ot' a bedstead. B is a straight slat, secured with bolts or otherwise, which acts as a spring by inserting blocks between it and the stretcher O, at proper distance from the center. G O are the bowshaped stretchers. D D are the Washers" to strengthen the bow-shaped stretcher in the center. E E are the head and foot bars, secured to the bow- 'shaped stretchers by bolts or otherwise. F is the rope, corded from end to end lengthwise ot` the bed-bottom.
From the above description, it will be seen that the bow-shaped stretohers operate to keep the rope .in its proper place at all times.
What I elaiin as new, and desire to secure by` Letters Patent, is-
An improved spring` bed-bottom, formed by the combination ofthe bow-shaped stretchers O O, the head and foot bars E E, and the rope F, constructed and 'arranged to operate substantially as specified.
JONAS ROUSE.
