This difiiculty incident to the loss ofy such valve parts, occurs mainly when the pipe connections are removed for any reason as when locomotives 'are dismantled forrepairs, the
different parts being removed by differentV gangs of steamiitters, boiler workers,va'lve men' and the like. When the blower valves as vformerly constructed are thus removed, there is nothing to hold the valve discs, otherwise known as the valve seats, in position, so that both discs or seats .dropout and are lost. When it becomes necessary to reassem-V ble the locomotive or other installation containing such valves, these parts are missing Vand'arereplaced in various ways, either by obtaining'new ones from'the valvemanufaeturer, or, on account of the tendency ofrail-w way shops to make whatever 1s required in.`

- With the foregoing facts in view, the present invention provides a blow off valve provided with'means for securing the lower seat or disc, as it may be termed, in position, so that neither` seat vor the disc can befac-cidentally released. litV will be understood in ythis connection that the upper valve disc or seat rests on the lowerone andis removably connected to the valve stem to be rotated thereby. The lower seat holds the upper one in operative position. vThe securing means which is the subject ofthe invention permits free play'of the lower disc relatively tothe casing so that thelower disc maybe positioned by suitably formed surfaces provided forthis purpose on the valve casing and the adj acent coupling.
