To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY WfYATEs, of
Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented an improvement in Adjustable Screens for Windows, of which the following is a specification: The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in window-screens of that class or variety that are made in two overlapping parts, adapted to slide one upon the other, so as to adjust the screen to window-frames of various widths.
The object I- have in view is a simpler, lighter, and more convenient form of windowscreen.
Figure l is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a In the drawing, A A represent two threeframe, the space between it and the side bar being covered with wire-cloth, as shown. This form gives a very light frame, and one which does not obstruct the view to so great an extent'as the ordinary kind. These frames are also very rigid, the stiles supporting firmly the upper and lower pieces.
The manner in which I prefer to secure the sliding frames together is as follows: O is a metal plate, secured to the free ends of the top and bottom rails, with a flange, a, turned in the projecting end, to enter a groove,b, plowed in the adjacent rail of the other frame, therebyv connecting the two frames of thescreentogether in such a manner that they may be adjusted to various widths of window-opening.
What I claim as my invention is- The frames for Window-screens described,
consisting of the three-sided frames A A', each having the stile B setback from the ends of the top and bottom rails, substantially as described and shown.
