Filed July 28, 1930 INVENTOR ATTORNEV WITNES:
Patented Feb. 17, 1931 UNITED sTATss Nr rice PETER KOLEP, or LOS anennnscamronma 7 Application filed. July 28,
parts, to be hereinafter fully. described, il-
lustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims. I
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sev eral views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the toy being pulled by the string and with th toy about to be placed on the stand.
Figure 2 is a sectional viewthrough the top part of the toy.
In this drawing, the letter .A indicates a toy which comprises an inverted conical lower part 1, a stem 2 having its lower end connected with the center of the top of the part land a reel 3 connected with the top part of the stem. A'housing 4 is rotatably mounted on the upper end of the stem and encloses the reel and has a hole 5 in'one side thereof through which the string 7 passes, this string having one end connected with the reel. An extension 8, having a bore therein, is fastened to the upper end of the housing and its bore rotatably receives the upper end of the stem. Thus by turning the stem, the cord will be wound on the reel and then by pulling upon the cord, thestem will be rotated so that the toy will'revolve at a rapid rate and then'by releasing the string, the. cord will be rewound on the reel during the rotary movement of the toy. A horizontal member 9 is connected with the bottom of the housing and has a notch 10 in its outer end which is adapted to engage a notch 11 in an upright- 12 sup- WEIRL no? 1930. semi No. 471,334.
ing, which in turn supports the toy as it rotates. p
Figures 1%, representing children, are carried by the top of thetoy and posts 15 are also supported by the top of the toy.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I V have provided a novel form of toy which can be caused to revolve at a rapid rate while supported by the stand by pulling upon the string and the momentum of the toy will rewindthe string when the string is released at the finish of the pulling movement.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the inventionwill be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combinatlon and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes .fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Nhat I claim is 1. A toy of the class described comprising a base, a stem connected at its lower end to the top of the base, a housing rotatably receiving the upper end of the stein and having a hole therein, a string connected with the stem and located in the housing with a part passing through the hole whereby the toy will be rotated by pulling upon the string and the momentum of the toy will rewind the string, figures arranged on the top of the base, a stand, an arm extending at rightangles. from the housing and means for detachably connecting the free end of the arm with the stand. 7
2. A toy of the class described comprising a housing, a stem having one end rotatably arranged in the housing, a string connected with'the stem for imparting rotary movement to the stem,'figures supported by the stem, an arm extending at rightangles from the housing, an upright and means for detachably connecting the outer end of the arm to the upright;
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
