Patented Feb. 17, 1931 UNITED STTES EDWARD BRUNI-IOFF, OF WYOMING, 01110 ADVERTISINGY CHANGE TRAY Applicaticn led May 10,
My invention relates to improvement in advertising changetray. One of its objects is to provide a changetray having an upper portion of transparent material to receive e the change and a compartment or cell beneath said transparent change receivinn por'- tion adapted to receive carton or other full sized container of the goods to be advertised, which carton or container is visible through l@ said transparent portion of the changetray and directly in the line of vision of person attempting to remove change from said changetray. Another object is to provide a cell in which the background may be made to contrast strongly with the carton or container so as to emphasize and give prominence to the carton or container, itsv size, color, outline, and any trade mark,` yadvertising matter or marked characteristics by 22 which the carton or container may be recognized, or distinguished from others. An-V other object is to add luster and enhance the appearance of the carton or container, due to the polished surface and light reflected or refracted from the transparent portion of the changetray.. Another object is to enable the carton or container to be presented at approximately the besty angle for observation, and to keep the containerclean and free from dust, flyspecks or other dirt liable to detract from its appearance. h My invention also comprises certain details of form and arrangement and combination of components, all of which will be fully set forth in the .description of the accompanying drawings in which,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my improved changetray. Y
Fig. 2 is a central vertical section taken on line 2-2 ofrFig. 1.
The accompanying drawings illustrate one Vembodiment of my invention in which 15 is an annular base member'of wood, bakelite composition, or similar material, and preferably opaque, and preferably of darkv color. The base 15 is provided with soft rubber feet 16 adapted to rest upon a glass show case or polished counter' without liability to mar or fracture the same. The central opening 17 in the base member is Closed at its lower end 1929. Serial No. 362,167.
by a sheet metal or similar bottom plate 18 vattached to the member 15A by means of tacks or screws 19, The upper transparent portion "2,0, which vmay be made of molded glass for instance, has va depression 21 in its upper face "1 adapted to receive and concentrate the fchange in a position convenient to be grasped and removed. A raised rim 221encircles the depression 21.V The transparent'section 2O Vi'sof suiiicie'nt diameter to overlap the edges goods to be advertised is placed in the cell,
partly in section 24 thereof and is firmly attached to the upper face of the block 25 by means of tacks or screws 29. A sheet of paper or textile material 30, for instance a section of flush or velvet of a color to form a contrasting background for the carton 27 is interposed between the bottom plate 18 and Y the block 25. The walls of the opening 17 i are also colored to contrast with and display the carton 27. The transparent section 2O adds luster and finish to the carton 27, due to the light reflected and refracted and concentrated upon the carton. The carton may be seen not only from in front or from above, but from either side as well. The transpar-v ent section 2O is preferably detachably retained in position upon the base 15 by means of four polished sheet metal clips 32 which are attached to the base 15 by means of screws 33, while the inner edges of the metal clips engage over an annular bead 34 at the base of the member 20. The carton 27 is elevated and inclined close to the under face of the inclined top of the member 20 in position best adapted to display said carton andy its trade mark, and its printed advertising matter, and any other striking features in the appearance of the carton. The cell may be adapted to the displayT of a Wide variety of cartons of full size,
lili? The apparatus herein shown and described is capable of considerable modification within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim is:
In an advertising change tray, a base member having a. central opening extending through its upper and lower faces, a hollow transparent member overlying said opening, and having an inclined upper face, means to secure said member to the base member. a closure for the bottom of the opening, a support for the goods to be advertised carried by said closure and movable therewith and projecting upwardly therefrom and having an inclined upper face corresponding to the incline of the upper face of the transparent member, to receive and have lixedly secured thereto the goods to be advertised whereby to present said goods in substantially the plane of the upper inclined face of the transparent member, and fasteners for removably connecting the closure to the under face of the base member.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature.
EDWARD BRUNHOFF.
