SEPARABLE EAsTniv/ na 'I' Application mea March e, 192s, serial NqQaaniaf I igmeu'refrretruary 2, Y1925er' This invention aims to provide *improvements in separable fasteners. n Y n In the drawings, which illustrate aprelferred. embodiment ofmy invention Figure l is a front elevation of thepre- D ferred form of Stele'S Y vio ' Fig. 2 is a section on the line Q-Qof l, being partly in elevation;
F ig. 3 is a section similar showing initial movement of the depending lingerl by movement of the curtain relative to the stud;
Fig. 4 is a plan-viewl 0f the socket-engaging part of the stud prior to assembly with the rest of the stud; and Y Fig. 5 is an elevation view of the part shown in Fig. 4. 1
illustrated by the drawings, have shown a o three-side lock fastener which is similar in construction and operation to .the fastener illustrated and described in my co-pending application Serial No. 92,718,1filed herewith.
The socket illustrated includes a one-piece d casing l formed in the same manner and ysecured in the, same manner by a screw 2 to a rigid support 3 to provide a flush type fas-Lener as more fully described in the abovementioned application. The only 'difference in the socket shown in Figs. 2 and 3 ofthis application is the Jformation ofthe closure plate 4. which inthis instance is providedv with an embossed'portion 5, the purposes of which will be hereinafter described.
The stud member illustrated includes the socket-engaging part v6, the front plate 7,-
socket-engaging part 6 is non-resilient and ofv a diameter which is the same or slightly smaller than the stud-receiving aperture 9 presented by the socket. A slot 10 is provided at the upper side of the socket-engaging part 6 through which the latch l1 operates. The outer end of the socket-engaging portion is preferably reduced to facilitate entrance of the stud into the socket and thewall Fig.
Vto Fig. 2, butl i y Y` socket, as shownfin F ig. 2. A Referring to the form of my invention wall 12,! as shown in Figs; 3 and v During yengagement Vof' 'the stud with the into. engageinenti'v with the shoulder V1.3 to

-I claim:-A f l. A three-side lock fastener lcomprising, inl combination, a socket having ai stud-receiving aperture, a cooperating stud presenting a hollownon-resilient portion for passage into said aperture, attaching means vfor securing.Y
said Vnon-resilient portion yto a flexible support, a casing and a lever part pivotally 1ocated in said casing, said lever. part presenting a latch extending intosaid hollow portion and out through a slot in the side wall loo- i 65V thestud 1n a linetransverse Yto the-axisiof the thereof for 'locking the stud to thev socket and `a depending nger extending substantially` parallel to the plane of the flexible support to Vbe operated by an initial pulleXerted upon the support to tip said lever and Withdraw said latchvk into .said hollow portion to permit separation of thestud from the socket .2. A v'separable fastenerfcomprising-in combination, a socket secured to a rigid support and presenting a stud-receiving aperture,a stud presenting a socket-engag'ing l portion, attaching means for securing the socket-engaging portion to a'fleXible support,
nieans carried `by the stud for locking it VWith A:he socket against separation by outward strain on the flexible support at three sides ofthe stud and a spring-pressed closure yplate in the socket presenting a boss entering a 'recess in the end of the socket-engaging por- ",iion to assist in 'preventing separation of the stud from the socket When lateral strain transverse to the axis of the socket is exerted upo the flexible support. f 3. A separable combination; al socket vhaving a stud-receiv ing aperture surrounded by a continuousYV Wall, a shoulder behind said Wall, and attaching Vmeans for securing the socket to a support,` a cooperating studhaving :a nonresilient `socket-engaging portion secured to a flexible support, a latch carried by said stud for engagement With said shoulder When Y said socket-engaging portion is entered into said socket to lock the stud to the socket, an aperture in the end of said socket-engaging portion and a spring pressed closure plate in said socket presenting'a boss adapted to enter the aperture in said socket-engaging portion to assist in preventing separation of the fastener by strain transverse to the 'axis thereof;
4f. A fastener stud including a non-resilient socket-engaging part,means forsecurin'g said part to a flexible fabric, a casing presented at the frontface of said fabric, a latchpivoted in said casing and extendingv through one. side ofsaid socket-engaging ,part and a finger associated with said latch and extendingfrom said casing at the front sideof the Y fabric and'being substantiallyparallel thereto thereby to be operated by initial movement Vof the' fabric relative to thestud to Withdraw the exposed portion ofv saidlatch intosaid socket-engaging part. f
In testimony whereof I have signed my naine to this specification.
