M invention relates to overgarments and has ii an object thereof to provide a garment comprising a jacket portion and a trouser portion integral with the jacket portion at the front of the garment and formed with a drop seat, and further to provide a band connecting said trouser portion and back of said jacket portion for holding the jacket portion in place through the medium of the trouser portion and for effecting a closure between said drop seat and the garment proper.

A more specific object resides in attaching said band to the front of the trouser portion immediately below the waistline and of arching said" band acrossthe hips and the small of the back of the wearer, whereby the band is caused, to assist in carrying the trouser portion and, in turn, is held snugly fitted upon the body of the wearer.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear in the following description, the invention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter de scribed and claimed.

In a practical one-piece cover garment it is desirable that the same be provided with a drop seat; that the waist portion of the garment be bloused at the back and that a closure .be eifected between the drop seat and garment proper amply providing for variously fitting said drop seat in place to accommodate the garment to persons of different sizes. My invention embodies these features and others particularly by providing an arched band which is connected along its branches to the trouser portion of the garment and which lies snugly across the hips and the small of the back of the wearer. This band has attached to it the lower edge of the back of the bloused jacket and being held in place through the medium of the trousers, not only provides an ample closure between the drop seat and garment proper, but provides a firm medium of attachment for said lower edge of said jacket.

The invention proper consists of a trouser portion A, and a jacket portion B. The trouser portion A comprises legs 10 and 11, the front of which is indicated at 12 and the rear at 13, which portions are seamed together at 18 along the sides of the garment. The jacket portion B comprises a front 113, and a back 14, which are stitched together along the shoulders of the wearer, and along the sides of the garment by seams 19, and are provided with a collar 15 and the usual sleeves 17. The front 12 of the trouser portion A and the front 113 of the jacket portion B are of continuous material so that the garment in reality is in one piece. The front 113 of the jacket portion B is open as indicated at 20, to permit the application of the garment to the body of a wearer.

At the upper portion of the back 13 of the trouser portion A is formed a drop seat 21. This drop seat recedes at either side thereof from the front 12 of the trouser portion A at 22 from which points the edges of said drop seat, indicated at 23 and 24, extend upwardly in converging relation (Fig. 1), the upper edge of the drop seat terminating in a waist band 25 situated at the waistline of the wearer. To the ends of said waist band are attached two loops 26 and 27 in which arev slidably arranged two straps 28 and 29. These straps are sewed to the front 113 of the jacket portion B of the garment at or near the seams 19 thereof and slightly above the waistline, said straps passing from their points of attachment to said jacket portion rearwardly through the loops 26 and 27, and 9 thence are brought around the front of the garment and attached together by means of complemental buckle members 30 and 31. When the drop seat is to be let down, the buckle members 30 and 31 aremnhooked and 109 the straps 28 and 29'released, which permits the drop seat to be lowered, as shown in Fig.

3. Upon desiring. to raise the drop seat, the

ends ofthe straps28 and 29 are drawn forwardly of the-user, which, due to the fact that the points of attachment of said straps to the garment are above the waistline, causes the drop seat to be elevated and drawn snugly about'the waistline of the user, causing the marginalportions 23 and 24 thereofto be secured to the edges of the'front 12 of the trouser portion A below the belt-line, said flaps being so arranged that they extend over the hips of the wearer bringing the narrow portion 34 of the band 0 across the small of the back at the waistline of the user. to fit snugly around and upon the person 0 the user. .To the upper edge of said band C is attached the lowermost extremity of the back 14 of the jacket portion- B, which is' sewed to the'same along a seam 36; With this arrangement the lowermost portion of the bloused back 14 is kept secure against being pulled out of place. It will be further noted thatthe ortion 34 of band C lies immediately un er the waist band 25 of said drop seat 21, while the flaps 32 and 33 underlie the edges 23 and 24 of said seat. In this manner a perfect closure is formed for that partof the garment above and atthe sides of the drop-seat, which permits of unlimited bodily movements of the wearer Witl10ll1b causing the back of the jacket to be withdrawn from the trouser portion of the garment. g

If desired, pocket pieces 37 and 38 maybe attached to the flaps 32 and 33, to provide pockets for the purpose of holding sundry articles of particular utility to the wearer. These pocket pieces would be stitched along the lines 39, being open along the'edges 40 to give access to the pockets. The edges 40 maybe arranged to underlie the edges 23 and 24 of the drop seat 21, so that when said seat is held in place by means of the straps 28 and 29, said pockets remain closed. vSuch I pockets will be found more convenient than the ordinary hip pocket, the same being readily accessible to the hands of a wearer and, upon the lowerin of the drop seat, being so disposed as to 0 er no inconvenience to the user and remaining in .the original relative and, in turn, being position to the body wherein the contained articles are secure against being accidentally displaced.

My improved garment is articularly advantageous in that the band while furnishing a closure between the drop seat 21 and garment proper, provides an effective keeper for the bloused back 14 of the jacket B, said band at the same time assisting in supporting the trouser portion upon the wearers body held snugly in place by said trouser portion. Changes in the specific form of my invention, as herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

1. A garment of the class described comprising a trouser portion, a jacket portion, the front of said trouser portion and the 1 front of said jacket portionbeing continuous to partly support said trouser portion through the front of said jacket portion, a band joined to said "trouser portion along the sides thereof, immediately below the waistline, and adapted to extend across the hips and the small of the back of a wearer for further supporting said trouser portion, said band being enlarged adjacent its line of joinder to said trouser portion to provide facing flaps, the back of said jacket portion 9 being full and joined at its-lower extremity to said band, said trouser portion being formed to provide a'drop seat, the marginal portions of said drop seat at the sides and top thereof being adapted to lie upon said band, and means for holding said-drop seat in such closed position.

2. A garment of the class described comprising a trouser portion and jacket portion, the fronts of said portions being continuous, the back of-said jacket portion terminating at its lower part in an arched marginal ortion connected at its ends to the front 0 the trouser portion below the waisline thereof and adapted to fit snugly across the hips and small of the back of the wearer, a drop seat formed in the upper part of the back of said trouser portion adapted marginally to overlie said arched marginal portion, means for holding said drop seat in place with respect to said arched marginal portion, and a pocket piece stitched to one of the lower ends of said arched marginal portion and adapted tobe closed by the drop seat portion.

3. A garment of the class described comprising a trouser portion, a jacket portion, the front of said trouser portion and the front of said jacket portion being continuous to partly. support. said' trouser portion through the front of said jacket portion, a band-(joined to" said trouser portion along the sides thereof, immediately below the waistline, and adapted to extend across the hips and the small of the back of a wearer for further supporting said trouser portion, said band being enlarged adjacent its lines of joinder to said trouser portion to provide facing flaps, the back of said jacket portion being full and joined at its lower extremity to said band, said trouser portion being formed to provide a drop seat having inclined marginal portions at the sides, said marginal portions and top of said drop seat being adapted to lie upon said band, means for holding said drop seat in such closed position, a pocket piece on one of the enlarged portions of said band forming a pocket having an inclined opening accessible along one side edge of said drop seat, said drop seat being adapted to overlie said pocket, the inclination of said drop seat and pocket bringing the opening of the pocket across a curved portion of the body of the wearer to cause the pocket to remain closed by said drop seat.

4. A garment of the class described comprising a body portion, a drop seat forming an opening at the rear of the garment, a band extendingacross the hips and small of the back of the wearer for partially supporting said bod pockets secured to said band, said pockets eing adapted to be closed by said drop seat.

5. A garment comprising a jacket portion and a trouser portion having a drop seat, the front of the jacket portion being attached to the front of the trouser portion, said drop sea being adapted to overlie the rear of the jacket portion and being freetherefrom to permit of the relative movement between jacket portion and dropseat, loop devices,

, one at each of the free corners of the drop seat, straps, one for each loop device, each strap being fastened at one end to the jacket portion at one side thereof and looped rearwardly through its respective loop device, said straps being adapted to be fastened together in belt-like form across the front of the garment, the same serving to hold the drop seat closed and support it independent- 1y of the rear of the jacket, also to smoothly hold the front of the garment to the wearers body and, further, to assist the front of the jacket portion in supporting the trouser portion.
