The spring may be a flat spring as shown in Fig. 4, or 1t may be a coil spring, one end being attached to the body portion and the other end attached to the support.

While the main object of my invention is to provide a support which will act as a cover for a book to which it is attached, it will be understood that in some instances the support may be used for holding or carrying other objects, the body portion being capable of being folded when fiat, when the easel section is in the closed position, but when the easel section is extended, it will not only support the body portion but will lock the sections of the body in the open position.

I claim 1. The combination in an easel support, of a body portion havin a center longitudinal hinge and an ease section transversely hinged to the body portion on a line crossing the longitudinal hinge line of the body portion, so that when the easel section is extended it will lock the body portion in the open position.

The combination in an easel support, of a body portion having side sections; two narrow longitudinal sections, one on each side of the center, said sections being connected together by a hinged strip and connected to the side sections b hinges; and an easel sectiontransversely hinged to the body portion on a line crossing the hinged line of the main portion, said easel section having hinged sections corresponding with those of the body portion, said hinged section locking the body portion when said section'is extended and the body portion is in the open position.
