gether, and at the same time may be very quickly freed to permit removal.
Objects relating to details and economies of my invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a rear elevation View of a motor truck embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view of a pair of coacting wall or gate sections in disconnected relation.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of one of the rear side and rear or end Wall sections in coupled relation.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary side elevation showing a hinged end gate or section in uncoupled or open relation.
In the drawing similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents a vehicle chassis and 2 a truck bed or deck provided with a plurality of stake pockets 3.
The wall sections or gates 4 and 5 are made up of vertical members 6 adapted as stakes or extended to engage the stake pockets 3 and the slats 7. These sections or gates are in practice of such length as to be conveniently handled and are commonly arranged so that one or more may be removed for the purpose or loading or unloading.
These sections are arranged in abutting relation to the sides, and also the side and end sections are arranged in abutting relation, as shown in Fig. 3.
To each section I attach fastener plates 8 having outwardly projecting arms 9, the plates being arranged so thatthe arms ofadj'acent sections lie side by side when the sections are mounted on the bed.
The arms are provided with upwardly'facing slots 10 therein with which the coupling links 11 may be engaged, the links swinging under the bottom edges of the arms, thereby locking them together.
To prevent loss, 1 the links are provided with attaching chains 12, each coa'cting pair of fastener membersbeing provided with a STATES rarsm orrice link, the securing chain being secured to one of the fastener members of the pair.
By this means, the fasteners may be secured together merely by dropping the link into the slot and allowing it to swing to a vertical position; It may be very quickly and easily removed by swinging outward and lift;- ing upwardly from the arms. 7 i
Owing to the angular relation of the end sections to the side sections, the fastener plates 13 of the end sections are provided with arms 14 lying in the plane thereof. The arms, however, abut the; arms 9 on the adjacent sidewall sections, as is described.
. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the end gates? or section 15 is hinged at .16; the securing members however are the same as described.
I have illustrated and described my improvements in an embodiment'which I-have found very practical. j
I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain modifications or adaptations which I contemplate as it is believed that this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and-desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: I
' 1. In a structure of the classdescribed, th
combination with a truck bed provided" with stake pockets, of a plurality ofwall sections provided with stakes engageable in said pocketswith the wall sections in end to end relation, .coacting pairs of fastener members mounted on the ends of adjacent side sections 7 and provided. with outwardly rojectjs'ubstaiitialxdepth, era eion te 7 ing arms lying side by side andhaving' up the linkis retained in engagement with the wardly facing registeringslots therein. and
