IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-CORD TIGHTEN ERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,885, dated May 23, 1876; application filed March 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HORACE RESLEY, of Cumberland, in the county of Alleghany and State of Maryland, have invented a new and Improved Curtain-Cord Fixture; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front elevation. Figs. 2 and 3 are eley'ations in front and face views, respectively.
The invention relates to means whereby a curtain-roll cord may be regulated and adjusted to hold the curtain at different elevations in a quick, easy, and effecti e manner. It consists in passing the cord around a pulley or grooved cap on the upper end of a side notched rod, bar, or plate, which has a stop or handle at bottom, and slides in an oblique ly-arranged keeper whenever turned slightly out of its perpendicular position.
A represents the window-frame, to which is obliquely attached the keeper B, over the rod, bars, or plate 0, suspended from the curtaincord 0. The latter is prevented from dropping out or escaping from the keeper acciserves as a handle dentally by the cap D at the upper end, and at the lower end by the stop E, which also the device. both sides, one or two of which rest upon the upper edges of the keeper whenever the plate is held in a perpendicular position by the weight of the curtain on the cord. Whenever it is desired to change the elevation of the curtain the plate 0 is turned at about right angles to the keeper, and slid up or down until the desired altitude of curtain has been obtained. The grooved cap D may receive the cord, or a pulley thereon may be used for the purpose.
This device is notonly very effective for its intended purpose, but, being of cheap material and easily applied, is also very economical.
