In order to facilitate insertion of a card or other member into the pocket, the upper edge 15 of the sheath is formed to extend angularly from the face of the member 10. This formation of the rib and of the angularly extending edge of the sheath renders the sheath more rigid at its upper or free edge, prevents buck ling or-distortion of the sheath and at the same time facilitates the insertion of a' card orother member into the pocket. This rib forms a shoulder which tends to retain the insert in the pocket- Forthe purpose of cooperating with the resilient gripping portions on the sheath, the card or other iisert may be provided with suitable means, for engaging the gripping portions of the sheath to more firmly retain the card in position in the sheath. F or this purpose, in the embodiment illustrated, "here is shown a projection, bead, or embossment 16 protruding at one face of the card. as 1llus trated in Fig. 6, this projection engages beneath the rib or shoulder on the sheath when a card has been inserted in the pocket and cooperates with that gripping means and resiliently prevents the card from being accident Ily removed from thepoclret.

- In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 8 to 11 inclusive, there is shown a substantially double locking of the card or other member in the pocket. In this form the holder member lO is provided with a suitable opening or aperture 17 the sides and upper edge of which form vertical and horizontai shoulders and an embossment. or protuberance 18 is providedon therear side of the card i .19. This embossment or protuberance enters the opening or aperture 17 when the card is inserted in the pocket and engages the shoulders formed by that opening in order to prevent movement of thecard in vertical and transversedirections. The resilient engaging member 20 of tliesheath presses against the card and holds the boss or protuberance 18 in the aperture 17 and beneath the horizontai shoulder formed thereby thus preventing any ,c\ L 4: wi c accidental movement oi the card cowardly from the face of the holder member.

' As is usual in devices of this kind, the holder member illustratedmay be used to support a card upon which'index or record matter appears, or a portion or all of the index or record may be directlyrw'ritten or imposed upon the so-called holder and the pocket used to retain a smaller card or an index or reference slip.

I claim as my invention 2 1 1. A holder having a pocket provided with a resilient offset portion, a card adapted to be inserted in said pocket and to vbe frictionally engaged by said resilient offset portion, and a protuberance on a face of said card engaged in the pocket for engaging said offset portion of the pocket to releasably secure said card in the pocket.

2. A holder member, a transparent sheath forming a pocket on said holder member adapted to receive an insert member, and comprising an inwardly projecting part for pressing said insert member against said holder member, and a pressed bead on said insert member adapted to interlock with said inwardly extending pocket part for releasably holding said insert member in said pocket.

8. A holder having a pocket provided with an offset portion, a card adapted to be inserted in said pocket and to be frictionally engaged by said offset portion, a projection on said card adapted to cooperate with said offset portion to releasably secure said card in said pocket, and said pocket having an edge portion projecting outwardly at an angle to the face of said holder and adapted to guide the edge of said card and projection into said pocket.

5. A'holder comprising a pocket, an insert member adapted to be received in said pocket, an integral relatively small projecting boss on said insert member, and an integral straight, substantially continuous projection on said holder for engaging with said boss on said insert member to releasably hold said insert member in said pocket.

6. A holder comprising a back member and a front member yieldably urged toward one another, a card adapted to be inserted between said members, a boss on said card, and a shoulder provided on one of said members for engagement over said boss to prevent vertical displacement of said card from said holder.
