UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DWIGHT Pl JOHNSON, OF CARLTON, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN SHEEP-RACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,402, dated May 16, 1876; app1ication filed September 17,- 1 875. v
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that DWIGHT P. JOHNSON, of Carlton, in the county of Orleans and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in'Sheep Racks, of which the following is a specification My invention consists inthe combination of afolding trough, in which to feed grain or other small feed, with a rack having slats upon the front side, in such a way that the trough when not in use shall form a part of the back of said rack, but when in use it is turned down so that it is conveniently located for feeding grain, 850., inside the slats.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective View. Fig. 2 is a transverse section.
A is a rack having the usual slats a a a, &c.,
in front. B is the, back of the rack, which is divided dongitudinally at b, and is hinged at c 0. Upon the upper portion of the back a shallow trough, O, is formed, which is inverted when folded back and not in use, as shown in Fig. 1, but when used it is turned down, as
shown in the dotted lines in Fig. 2.
The advantages claimed for this rack are,
the ease with which the trough may be kept clean, and the facility with which the flock' used. Therefore I do not, broadly, claimthis feature; but
' What I claim as. my invention, anddesireto secure by Letters Patent, is
A sheep-rack, A, having the back B di-' vided longitudinally, with the lower portion fixed, and the upper portion hinged thereto at .'b, the said upper portion having a trough, 0,
attached, as set forth.
The -above specification of my invention signed by me this 10th day of September, 1875.
