COFFEE-POT.
Patenie'd May 9, '1876.

sin.
JOHN. LUNDGREN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO ANDREW FRIER, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN COFFEE-POTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,259, dated May 9, 1876; application filed March 17, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN LUNDGREN, of the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in (Jofi'ee-Pots; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, referencabeing had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in the construction of cofl'ee-pots, of the kind in which a strainer or interior chamber is usedfor holding the coffee, and its object is to construct and arrange the parts in such a manner that a comparatively small amount of material and of labor shall be required in the manufacture of such a coffee-pot, so that it it may be sold for a comparatively low price.
.My invention consists in the mode of joiningthe neck, or part within which the strainer is held and secured, to the main portion or body of the coffee-pot by means ofa joint of novel'construction, which is hereinafter particularly described. 7
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a side elevation, partly in section, of a cofi'ee-pot with my improvement; Fig. 2, a horizontal section, taken on the line a: w, in Fig. l and Fig. 3, a detail view, showing the form of joint (enlarged) which I use in carrying out my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
A represents the body of the coffeepot, which may be of any common or ordinary kind which may be adapted to receive my.
improvement. B is the neck or upper part ofthe coffee-pot, within which is suspended, and which is adapted to receive and retain in position a strainer or inner chamber, 0, in which the coffee is placed.
The principal feature of my invention consists in the manner of fitting and joining the neck B to the body A, so as to effect a saving both in the quantity of material used and also in the labor required, and at the same time to other convenient form, and is provided witha perforated bottom, 01, and with a horizontal bead, f, formed at or near its upper end, which said bead f rests upon the bead a, when the strainer is placed in position for use.
D represents the spout, and F the handle, neither of which is deemed to require particular description, as both may be of ordinary construction.
By means of this construction and arrangement of the several parts, and more especially by reason of the peculiar form of the joint and the manner of connecting the neck B, or portion in which the strainer is fitted, to the body A, a considerable saving both of labor and material is efiected, as the breast, heretofore used in coffee-pots of this kind, is dispensed with; and this improved coifee-pot, provided with a strainer, may be manufactured and sold at a price very little in excess of that at which a common coffee-pot without a strainer is usually sold.
What I claim as my invention is- In a coffee-pot the joint herein shown and described, for connecting the neck B to the body A,-the said joint being formed by the double beads a a and b I), provided on the overlapping portions of the neck B and body A, respectively, the said parts being arranged, as shown, and afterward soldered, for the purposes set forth. v
a l I JOHN LUNDGBEN. Witnesses:
JOHN S. THORNTON, JOHN F. OHENY.
