WILLIS H. SHERWOOD, OF WAOO, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN COFFEE-POTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,359, dated June 27, 1876; application filed May 1, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIS H. SHERWOOD, of aco, McLennan county, Texas, have invented a new and Improved Oofi'ee and Tea Pot, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists of a receiver for the decoction, fitted in the pot from the top, in the top of which receiver is a dripping-cup to hold the coffee or tea, and through which and the receiver a tube extends from the waterpot, up which the hot water is forced by the steam, and discharged into the dripper to drip the coffee into the receiver, from which it is drawn for use without passing into the waterpot. The receiver is provided with a gage to show the quantity in it, and the water-pot has a safety-valve to let off the steam when the pressure is too high, the said valve being fitted in the cap of the filling-tube.
Figure l is a sectional elevation of my improved coii'ee-pot, taken on line a: 00, Fig.2; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line y y, Fig. 1. v
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A s the water-pot,in which is a receiver, B, for the decoction, extending from the top of A nearly to the bottom. O is the drippingcup, with a perforated bottom, setting in the top of the receiver. D is the hot-water tube, passing up through" the receiver and the bottom of the dripper to discharge the water for dripping through the coffee. E is the faucet for drawing off the coffee for use. F is a faucet for drawing hot water. G is the safetyvalve in the cap of the filling-tube H to the water-pot. I is the gage to the receiver, and J is the cover to the dripping-cup.
\Nith a pot of this construction the decoction will be free from sediment, the strength of the coffee will be very largely obtained, and it affords hot water along with the decoction when required.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with dripping-cup, of the water-vessel A, provided with valved fillingtube H and a receiver, B D, having automatic gage I, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
