IMPROVEMENT lN CURRY-COMBS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,012. dated May 2, 1876; application filed December 16, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CYRUS W. SALADEE, of Washington city, in the District of Oolum bia, have invented certain Improvements in Curry-Combs, of which the following is a specification embodying my said invention.

To enable others skilled in the art to makeand use my invention, I herewith submit the folh'iwing general description:

The nature of my invention consists in combining, with the handle of the comb, a suitably-formed metallic bow, placed diagonally across the back from opposite corners, and by the peculiar shape and position of said how a most complete and comfortable hold is presented to the ends of the fingers when grasping the comb immediately over the back.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of an ordinary comb, showing the bow D placed in position diagonally across the back from opposite corners; and Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same, showing the bow D in its position from this view;

The bow D may be formed either of a heavy piece of wire, or cast from an appropriate pattern. It is bent or formed into the shape seen in Fig. 2, having the end next the handle of the comb elevated to a higher degree than it is at the diagonally-opposite corner of the comb. The extremegopposite ends of this bow terminate in the formation of round flat feet, through the center of which is a hole, and through which is passed the rivet I, which The a i )lication of this dia onal bow is not limited to any particular style or kind of comb, but is designed for any of the close or open back combs manufactured with the ordinary handle A.

I do not claim, broadly, in this patent a hand hold or holds placed diagonally across the back of the comb, as I intend to make such feature of my invention the subject of a separate patent.

I'claim as'my irivention- 1. The combination, with the handle A of acurry-comb, of a diagonal hand-hold bow, D, as and for the purpose herein set forth.

2. In a curry-comb, the diagonal bow D, having its end nearest the handle elevated higher than at the diagonally-opposite corner, as and for the purpose herein set forth.
