IMPROVEMENT IN KITCHEN'TABLES.

specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,711, dated April 25, 1876; application filed April 2, 187 5.

To all whom it may concer'n Be it known that I,`CHARLEs H.. TOWN- SEND, of Oakland, Alameda county, State of California, have invented an Improved Kitchcn-Table; and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying' drawings are suftlcient to enable any person skilled in' only be provided with more oonvenient drawers for containing flour and other small articles required in cooking, but will also have a slding bread-board which can be drawn out ,upon either sideV of'the table.

My improved table is fully represented in the accompanyiug drawings, in which` the figure is a perspective View. i i U A represents a table, having the ordinary bracing-,strips B secured around it below the table-top. Below these bracing-strips I constructztwo large dra-wers, O O, one below each end of the table, so that they can be drawn out separately. The inside of each of these drawers is made semicircular in one direction. I make the outside semicircular also, so that no projecting corners will he left to be in the way of a person standing` in front of the table.

` These drawers are intended to contain flour,

and by .making their interior semiciroular in one direction I leave no Corners for the fiour to pack into, and render its removal from them more convenient.

In the strip B, directly 'above the drawers O O, I make two or more small drawers, E, in

which small articles-such as are required in a kitchenJ-can be kept. Directly under the` `top board of the table I arrange a kneading'- board, F, so that it can slide out or in upon either side' of the table, similar to a drawer.4 When the kneading-board is closed into the table it is entirely out of the way, and when it is required it is within convenient reach, it being' only necessary to draw it out like a drawer. p

To strengthen the middle of the table, where the strain upon the knea-ding-board is received, an additional or fifth leg, G, may be placed between the two flour-drawers, O G, so that it also aids in supporting the weight of the flour in the drawers.

This kneading-board will be very convenient in case the table is used as a dining-table, as it Will Serve as an extension to sustaiul articles usually placed on a sideboard.

I thus' provide a cheap and very convenient i kitchen-table, Whioh Will not only be ornamental, but Will save many steps in the kitchen.

Having' thus described my inventiou, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent iskitchen-table consisting of theitop A, provided with the bread-boardF, arrang'ed to slide from either side of the table, and the sliding' semicircular drawers O O below, all constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
