IMPROVEMENT IN CUPBOARDS AND EXTENSION TABLES COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 135,440, dated February 4, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENONI F. PARTRIDGE, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented an Improved Cupboard and Extension Table Combined, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to an article of furniture combiningatablecupboard and extension table, theleaves of the table unfoldingfrom the front and rear of the cupboard, and the whole, when folded, being of compact form and having much the appearance of a side-board or case of drawers, as hereinafter more fully described.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the cupboard with the table unfolded on both sides; Fig. 2 shows a front View of the cupboard with the table folded Fig. 3 is an end view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several figures.
A is the cupboard, mounted on a body like that of an ordinary table, with four legs, E E. It has three shelves. The lower one, G, is formed by the top of the table-body,
and the middle one is shown by F, Fig. 1, and the top A making the upper or third shelf. The table-leaves a a fold up against the front and rear sides of the cupboard, and cover the same, as shown by a, Fig. 2. The said leaves, when extended, are supported by legs 13 B that swing out from the body of the table; and
being let down horizontally. In each end of I the table body is a drawer, D, and these drawers are each provided with a cover, (I, as
shown in Fig. 2, so that these covered drawers,
when drawn out, can also be used as shelves.
When the whole table is not required the cupboard A can be allowed to stand against the wall, and only the front leaves be extended for use; and the leaves of this side can be extended to only the width of one leaf, if desired.
By these means I obtain a cupboard and table combined, which gives a table of large or medium surface, as may be desired, and, when folded, occupies but little room, and is snug and neat in appearance. v

The combined cupboard and extension table, constructed substantially as herein shown-and described, the leaves of the table folding up to form the front and. rear of the cupboard when closed.
