Description

June 24, 1930. F( s. FlTHlAN NECKTIE APPLIANCE Filed Aug. 16, 1929 Patentecl june 24, 1930 UNETE STATES ustasa NECKTIE APPLIANCE Application filed. August 16, 1929. Serial No. 386,290.
The object of this, my present invention, is the provision of an extremely simple, inexpensve and thoroughly etficient means for guiding and for' causing the free movement of the neck band of a scarf or tie that is directed through a turnover or fold collar, so that injury to either the collar or the tie will be prevented and the tie can be knotted or tied in a better manner than when the neckband thereof binds between the folds of the collar.
To the attainment of the foregoing the nvention consists in the improvement here inafter described and definitely claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement in applied position.
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the improvement.
Figure 3 is a top plan view thereof.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on the line 4 4 of Figure 2.
While not disclosed by the drawing my improvement is designed to be arranged between a told or turnover collar at the rear thereof.
The improvement comprises essentially resilient plates 1 and 2, respectively. The plate 2 is of a greater length and also of a greater width than the plate 1. The plate 2 provides the rear element of the improvement. Both the plates 1 and 2 are bowed, as disclosed by Figures 2 and 3 of the drawing and have their ends connected by eyelets or similar means 3. It is to be noted that the eyelets or fastening means' pass through the upper corners of the plates 1 and 2 and that the said fastening means also pass through spacer elements, such as wash-,
ers 4 so that the ends of the plates l and 2 are not brought into direct contact with each other.
Preferably the plates 1 and 2 are constructed of celluloid as are the spacer membere 4. By providing the plate 2 of a greater length and width than the plate 1 the lower edge of the plate 2 will depend a considerable distance below the plate 1 which affords a guide for directing the neck band of a tie or scarf between the said plates. The spacer washers 4 prevent the ends of the plates from exerting an undue frictional en- 'gagement against the neckband so that when .hold the inner and outer folds of the collar spaced from each other, and will more efiectively permit of the neckband being drawn between the plates 1 and 2. The inner plate 1 being of a less width than the outer plate 2 is disposed above the button opening in the collar so that the collar button does not contact with the improvement and, therefore, has no tendency to bind or to force the "PATENT O I E plate 1 against the plate 2 to cause the said plates to exert a binding action against the band of the necktie.
The Simplicity of the invention and the advantages will, it is thought, be readily apparent 'so that further detailed description will not be required.
Having described the invention, I claim:
1. A guide for the neck bands of scarfs or ties which is passed through the folds of a turnover collar, comprising an inner and an outer arched resilient plate that have their ends, at their upper corners, connected but spaoed away ;from each other, and the distance between the plates being greatest at the center thereof and gradually decreasing therefrom to their connected ends.
2. A guide for the neck bands of scarfs or tes which is passed through the folds of a turnoVer collar, comprising an inner and an outer arched resilent plate that have their ends at their upper corners connected but spaced away from each other, and the outeplate being both of a greate' length and Width than the inner plate, and Whereby the distance between the plates gradually increases from their. connected corners tothe center of the plates.
In testimony Whereof I afiix my signature.
FRANK S. FITHIAN.
