bottle caps. to produce a strong, i n
this kind, which can be easily attached to a wall or support, and will project out so as to conveniently engage the cap of a bottle and permit its quick removal. object of my invention is to produce a structure of this kind which can be swaged or made with a die, and will have such shape and clearance that it can be rapidly and economically produced. A further object of my invention is to produce a structure of this kind having a stiff, ing from the wall in the form of a post, and with the cap removing part-s formed directly in the outer end of the post, and preferably with all the plane of the post sides, to the end that the structure can be economically produced and eiiiciently used.
Such devices are usually in exposed positions, and my invention is intended further to produce a structure which because of its shape will lend itself to a handsome finish, and will be of an ornamental nature.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts in all the views. Figure 1 is a front elevation of the bottle opener embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the bottle opener.
Figure 3 is a view of the base with the supporting screws in section.
Figure 4 is a longitudinal vertical section.
Figure 5 is a detail of a type of supporting member.
Figure 6 is a face view of the bottle opener showing another' way of fastening it to a wall or support, and
Figure 7 is a vertical longitudinal section of the structure as shown in Figure 6.
The bottle opener is preferably provided with a base 10 Hat on the back side so that it can fit snugly against a wall or support,

The post at its outer rigid member projectparts lying within the through the end of the ly in Figure 2. rlhis and this base merges into a rigid substantial post which projects outwardly from the base and is slightly tapered on the upper and lower sides 11 which are oval in cross section as the drawing shows. of the post are preferably flat as shown at 12 in Figure 1. The tapering of the post is somewhat exaggerated in the drawing, and the object of this is to make the structure so that it can be swaged or formed with a die, which makes a better, stronger,
The side parts than if a casting is Moreover, a structure made in this way lends itself to a much handsomer finish.
end is formed on the under side with an upturned or projecting claw 13 adapted to engage under the cap of a bottle, and with an overhanging member 14 at the upper side spaced from the claw 13, While the recess 15 is made transversely post as shown clearrecess is formedV for clearance, and the back wall of the recess be easily pried loose.
from its middle portion to the upper part of the member 14 is inclined. Thus a bottle with a cap can be manipulated so that the cap will enter the recess 15, the claw 13 will engage under the cap, and the opposite part of the cap will have a bearing on the inclined under surface of the member 14; then by lifting slightly on the bottle the cap will By reference to Figure 1 it will be seen that the sides and top and bottom of the parts 13 and 14 lie within the plane of the post, thus making it easy to produce the tool,
and also leave smooth side parts which are not apt to engage extraneous objects.
The base 1() can be fastened to a wall or support in any convenient way. I prefer to use a hidden fastenin ture will be handsomer time be very rigid.

The back of the like, and has a tongue 19 fitting in a complementary recess of the base. If it is placed in vertical align- 8 and with the centre of the post above referred to, the post will be sure to project at the right angle. The plate 17 has a stem 20 projecting out- Ward and entering a recess or bore 2l in the 5 post. The stem is recessed as shown at 22 to receive a fastening screw 23 entering through a hole 24 and ilnpinging on the inclined Wall of the recess 22 so that when the screw is tightened up it will follow the inoline and serve to draw the base 10 snugly to position. The particular means of fastening above referred to is explained so that there can be no misunderstanding, but this fastening feature is also shown in my Letters Patent of the United States No.

Instead of using the above described and preferred fastening, the base may be provided W'ith holes 25 (see Figures 6 and 7) 20 to receive fastening screws 26, or the device can be fastened in other Ways Without affect ing the invention.
I claim A Wall bottle opener having a relatively broad flat back base adapted for attachment 4to a Wall, said base merging in an outwardly extending post which is integral with the base and Which is of progressively decreasing cross sectional size from the base to the outer end of the post, said post being transversely slotted across the outer end and terminating on the upper side in a projecting over-hanging member and on the lower side in an up-turned claw. In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification this 13th day of `January, 1928.
