K. F. WILD SAFETY CATCH FOR PINS Filed Oct. 24, 1928 K5115 MYLZ If the portion 10 is screwed into the ring 7 the stem 9 may be round but if said portion is soldered or riveted in said ring the stem may be flattened at opposite sides as in Figure 12 at 13, this, however, being mere choice.
Since the ring and the bore of the head are substantially of' the same diameter throughout the former may be slipped endwise into the latter and maintained in operating position by the named stud or stem 9 Without further holding means. 7
I claim:
1. A safety catch including a body for attachment at one end to a support and having an open head at its other end provided with a bore, said head also having a slot partially severing it lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bore, a cylindrically curved open ring fitting the bore adapted to be in serted endwise into the said bore from'one side of said head, and a stud adapted to be inserted through the slot to meet the ring and secured thereto, said stud adapted for rotating the ring and for retaining the same Within said bore;
2. A safety catch including a body for attachment to a support and having an open head provided With a bore of asingle diameter throughout its Width, said head having a slot partially severing it lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bore, an open ring cylindrically curved substantially fitting the bore of the head, its exterior surface having the same diameter throughout its entire Width, said ring adapted to be inserted into said bore from one side of said head, and a stud adapted to be inserted through the said slot and secured in said ring and projecting outward from said head.
3. A safety catch including a body for attachment to a support and having an open head providedwith a bore of a single diameter throughout its Width, and also having a slot partially severing it lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bore, an open ring substantially fitting the bore of the head, its exterior surface having the same diameter throughout, and said ring adapted to be insorted endwise into said bore, and a stud adapted to be inserted through said slotand secured in the said ring and projecting outward from said head, said stud having a shoulder abutting on the ring.
4. A safety catch including ahead pro vided with a bore of a single diameter throughout its Width, and having a slot there in in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bore,'an open ring substantially fitting the bore, its external surface having the same diameter throughout, said ring adapted to be inserted endwise into said bore, a stud secured in the ringat a point opposite the slot of the head and having a shoulder abutting upon the ring and also having a head terminating its outer end overlying a part of the head at said slot.
5. A safety catch for a bar pin for attachment to a support, the same having an open' head provlded With a bore, and also having I pletely formed prior to their being assembled, there being a hole in the ring in registe'r with the slot of the head when the parts are assembled, and a stud extending through the slot into the hole and secured in the latter.
6. A safety catch for a bar pin for attach ment to a support, the same having an open head provided with a bore, and also having a slot partially severing it lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bore, an open ring substantially fitting the bore adapted to be inserted endWise into said bore and rotatable therein, said head and ring being complete in form prior to their being assembled, there being a threaded hole in the ring in register With the slot of the head When the parts are assembled, and a stud extending through Elsi slot and threaded to engage the threaded 7. A safety catch for pins including in its construction a support,a body having a plurality of extensions spaced from each other and at their extremities extending through the said support and secured therein.
8. A safety catch including a support, a body having at one end a cylindrically curved head and a cylindrically curved inner surface of substantially the same diameter throughout, said head being provided with a slot lying in a plane at right anglesto the axis about which the head is curved, said body having a base terminating in a plurality of extensions spaced from each other, said support having holes therein, and said ex-- 1 tensions lying in said holes and secured therein. 7 i V 9. A safety catch including a support, a body having at one end a head provided with a cylindrical curved inner surface substantially of the same diameter through-out, said head being provided with a slot lying in a plane at right angles to the axis about which the said inner surface'is formed, said body having a base terminating in a plurality of E divergent spaced extensions, the support hav ing spaced holes therein to register with and receive the extensions, the latter being secured in said holes, a. cylindrically curved open ring lying Within the head adapted for rotation therein, and a stud adapted to be inserted through the slot of the head and secured in said ring.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
