PatentedApril 11, 1876.

WITNEEEE 5:
N. PE ERS, PNOTO-U1NOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON, o C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM H. HARPER, OF SPARTA, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-CHECKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,975, dated April 11, 1876; application filed March 6, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. HARPER, of Sparta, in the county of Morrow and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in DoorOhecks; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in door-stops; and it consists in a cone-shaped base provided with ears for attachment to its base, and to which base is pivoted a catch which is drawn back to position again, after having been wowed by a spiral spring, as will be more fully described hereinafter and definitely claimed.
The accompanying drawings represent my invention.
(t represents a hollow metal cone, having two or more ears or flanges, c, projecting out from its base, by means of which it can be attached to the floor. In the top of this cone there is made an opening, 6, into which is forced a wooden plug, and into this plug is I screwed the screw d, upon which is pivoted thecatch g, which holds the door. Formed upon one side of the top of the cone is a lug,
t, to which one end of the spring h is fastened,
upon its end.
The block a may be given any other suitable form that may be preferred.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- An improved door-stop, consisting of a hollow cone-shaped metal block, a, having ears 0, opening a, and lug t, in combination with the pivoted catch g and spring h, attached thereto at one end, and to the lug at the other end, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 25th day of February, 1876.
WILLIAM HENRY HARPER.
