Description

PAPER CONTAINER" Filed June 20, 1928 fn'uentar Ham/a Miryaiagg Patented May 20, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE HAROLI? r. xmesnvmr, or nonrnmr'ron, mnssncnusn'rrrs PAPER CONTAINER Application filed. June 20, 1928. Serial No. 287,014.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the'provision of a paper container of this nature with a transparent cover that is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture,
' strong and durable, and thoroughly efficient zo'and reliable for the purpose intended.
With the above and numerous other objects in view, as will be apparent as'the description proceeds, thev invention resides in certain details of structure as will be hereinafter more fullydescribed and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a topv plan View of the con tainer embodying the features of my inven-. tion, and so therethrough. 4
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the container disclosed herein is conventional, it being provided with a cylinder wall 5, rolled inwardly at its bottom edge to receive the bottom 6 in the usual well known manner.
My'improvement resides in the provision of a cover, the body of which is in the form 40 of a transparent disc 7, of suitable material,
Figure 2 is a vertical diametric section necessary strength and durability for the purpose -to which these containers are actually put in actual practice. I It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art,
without a more detailed description thereof.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to, Without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is: i
A closure for cylindrical containers comprising a circular flange for telescoping over the walls of the container at the open end thereof, said circular flange having its outerma-rginal edge rolled inwardly, a transparent disk disposed over the open end of the container and between the periphery of the flange, the marginal edge of the disk rolled upwardly into rolled edge of the flange between the layers thereof and having the edge of the flange pressing outwardly on the roll of the disk, and said roll on the disc and flange circular.
In testimony whereof I hereto affix my signature.
HAROLD P. KINGSBURY.
and aflange 8 for telescoping over the cylinder wall 5 and the flange 8-is rolled inwardly at its upper end to enga e with-the upwardly rolled periphery of t e body 7.'
45 The end of the flange roll presses against the roll of the disc. The roll of the dise'is i thereby anchored between two layers of the roll onthe flange. Thus, the body 7 is not likely to become cracked during assembly and manufacture, and. yet will possess the
