DTO LITNDGRAPMER, WA'SHINGTON. D C,
UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE,
oHARLEs L. WARNER, 0F HOMER, IOWA,
IMPROVEMENT IN TRUSS-PADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,795, dated April 4, 1876; application filed February 28, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES L. WARNER, of Homer, in the county of Hamilton and State of Iowa, have invented a new and Improved Truss-Pad, of which the following is a specifloat-ion:
I11 the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front view; Fig. 2, a sectional side elevation of my improved truss-pad; Figs. 3, 4, and 5, different arrangements of the balland-socket connection.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to an improved pad for trusses for the cure of hernia; and it consists of a pad connected to the base-plate by a balland-socket joint, and suitable retaining devices.
In the drawing, A represents a pad, of the usual convex shape, and made of wood, steel, hard rubber, or other suitable material. The
pad is connected to the base-plate B by ba1land-socket joint 0, the under side of the pad A being recessed for the reception of the ball. The base-plate and pad are connected, with a view to prevent the dropping out of the ball from the sockets, either by spiral springs near the center or circumference, or rubber cords or other elastic material, as shown in Fig. 2, or by an inclosing leather tube, as in Figs. 3
and 4, or the padmay be socketed to a ball connected by a solid shank to the belt or CHARLES L. WARNER.
