Description

Patented Apr. 29, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE DOMINICK SMOKERS ARTICLE SALVATI, OF BROOKLYN, AND HERMAN LE QUORNIK, F RICHMOND HILL,
NEW YORK; SAID LE QUORNIK ASSIGNOR 'IO SAID SALVATI Application filed December 19, 1928. Serial No. 327,086..
Our invention relates to a combination cigar or cigarette container and ash receiver and has for its main object to provide a convenient article of real usefulness. A further object is to provide an article of attractive appearance and yet inexpensive to manufacture. 7
These and other objects and advantages will be readily understood from the follow- 10 ing description and from the accompanying drawing, but it will be understood that certain modifications might be made without departing from the scope of the invention. In the drawing Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional side elevation of the device,
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
The device consists of a cylindrical jar 10, which may be made of any suitable material but preferably of glass, and a cover 11. The
cover, which fits on the neck 12 of the jar,
is provided with an ash receiver 13 which extends downwardly into the jar. This ash receiver is also cylindrical in shape and of such diameter that an annular space 14 is left in the jar. In this space cigars or cigarettes are kept.
A disc 15, having an upturned rim 16 and an upwardly extending recess 17 is placed in the bottom of the jar and on this the cigars or'cigarettes are supported. A coarsethreaded stud 18 is secured on the bottom of the ash receiver and engages with a nut 19 secured in the recess 17.
It will be seen that, if the cover is lifted While the stud 18 is engaged in the nut 19, the disc 15 will be lifted with it and so also the cigars orcigarettes supported thereon, thus bringing these into a position in which they may conveniently be removed from the ar.
A few turns of the cover will disengage the stud from the nut, so that the ash receiver may be emptied without dislodging the cigars or cigarettes. A few turns in the opposite direction will again engage the stud in the nut.
A plurality of cigar or cigarette-support- M ing depressions 20 are formed in the top of the cover, and, to keep the cigars or cig- .Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, a jar, a cover for said jar, an ash receiver extending downwardly from said cover and into the ar, a compartmentfor storing cigars or cigarettes being formed between the inside of the jar and the outside of the ash receiver, and a disc attached to the bottom of the ash receiver upon which the cigars or cigarettes are supported.
2. In a device'of the class described, a jar,
a cover for said jar, an ash receiver extending downwardly from said cover and into the jar, a compartment for storing cigars or cigarettes being formed between the inside of the jar and the outside of the ash receiver, and a disc removably attached to the bottom of the ash receiver upon which the cigars or cigarettes are supported.
