Upon the continued rotation of the roll-back 34, the cam surface 37 rides up over the extension 29, forcing the tumbler 2O downwardly about the pivot 21 and disengaging the locking face 25 from the post 12. The beveled edge 16 of talon 13 permits the roll-back 34 to disengage the face 25 from post 12 before the terminal or leg 35comes in contact with talon 13. The terminal 35 of the roll-back 34 then comes in contact with the talon 13 and continued rotation of the roll-back 34 will effect the initial protraction of the bolt 8. Further rotation of the roll-back 34 will cause the terminal or leg 36 of the roll-back 34 to come in contact with the talon 14,.as shown in Fig. 3, to effeet the final protracting movement of the 7 bolt.) The final rotation of the roll-back 34 resultsin the bolt 8 being protracted to such a position that the le 36 clears the beveled edge 19 of the talon 14, whereupon the bolt is in its fully protracted position. Movement of the roll-back away from the talons 13 and 14 permits the tumbler 20 to move'upwardly under the urge ofthe spring 22, and the face 27. of tumbler 20engaging the post- 12, will lock the dead-bolt in its protracted position.
The unlocking of the bolt is done in precisely the same manner, but by rotating the roll-back in the opposite, direction,'the cam surface 38 of the roll-back .34, engaging the extension;30, of the tumbler 20, rides up over this extension and forces the tumbler downwardly to disengage the locking face 27,
fromthe post 12, whereupon the'rolhback 34 engagcs'successively the talons 15 and 14 to retract the bolt and finally upon being moved away from the bolt 8 permits the tumblerto move upwardly and lock the bolt in the retracted position by the engagement of face 25 with post 12. \Vhile I have shown a prefered embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that it is not limited to all the details shown, but is capable ofmodification and variation within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.
