This invention relat'esto' that type of apparel garment made in. the nature of a corset to extend from a position above the bust line to a position below the hips and to surround the body of the wearer. The object of themvention is the provision of a garment in which there is a girdle so constructed that the front portion thereof functions as an adjustable abdominal support and diaphragm control, while'the rear or back portion thereof functions as a buttocks confiner.
In carryingout the invention the garment made in accordancetherewith comprises abody member which-is preferably open at one side and the edges of the closure provided with means for connecting the same to oneanother. The body of thegarment is designedto extend from above the bust line to below the hips of the wearer and is constructed to include a girdle surrounding the body of the wearer with the parts of the girdle preferably connected at the front and with theiback or rear Y of the girdle incorporated in the lower portion of the body member of thegarment; The front and side portions of the girdle, are, therefore, free from and underlie theadj'acent portions of the body of the garment andfare I adapted to overlie the abdomen and the lower 7 portion-of the diaphragm, of the body of the wearer. The girdle, furthermore, :is constructed to, include elastic inserts and iistable elastic straps whereby the front portion thereof is adapted to support the abdomen of the wearer and to mold or control thelower portion of the diaphr'agmof the wearer, and v as hereinbefore stated the back'o'r rear portions of the girdle are made to conform to and retain the buttocks of the wearer. Furthermore, as preferablyconstructed the portions members of the'girdle are unattached thereto in order to produceastraight front effect, all
of which will be hereinafter more particularly described. I y V In the drawinglligure '1 is a perspective View of the garment made in accordance with this invention showing the same in position on the body of the wearer, f 1

The left side of the body of the garment includes a side section 29 and a side section 30 between which parts the garment is open and 5 by which through a suitable closure structure it is secured in position on the body of the wearer. The section. 19 of the right hand side member is connected to the front member 26 by a reinforcing strip 31 and suitable lines of stitching 32. In like manner at the opposite edge thereof this front member 26 is con nected to the left hand side member 29 by a reinforcing strip 33 and suitable lines of stitching 34. Along its free edge the section 29 is fitted with a reinforcing strip 35 which may be connected thereto by lines of stitching 36 or otherwise.
Suitably secured in spaced positions along a reinforcing strip 35 there is a series of hooks 20 37 The other section of the left hand side member, namely, the section 30, is connected to'the section 12 by a reinforcing strip 38 and suitable lines of stitching 39. The section 30 corresponds to the section 20. The section 30 The adjacent edge of this elastic insert 30 is connected to the section 12 by the same reinforcing strip 38 and lines of stitching 39 by which the upper portion of the section 30 is connect- 30 ed thereto, and the adjacent lower edges of the section 30 and the elastic insert 30 are connected to each other by a suitable reinforcing strip and the necessary lines of stitching. This elastic section 30 is similarly shaped and i 35 complementary to the elastic section 20. The
pocket formed by the reinforcing strip 38 as illustrated may"conta'insuitable stays 40 which in this side of the garment are the counter-parts of the stays 25 in the other side thereof. The free edge of the section 30Jis fitted with a reinforcing strip 41 secured thereto by suitable lines of stitching 42 or otherwise and connected to the. reinforcing strip 41 there is a series of-eyes 43 corresponding in number and position with the hooks 37 whereby, as will be understood, each one of the hooks 37' may be caused to engage in the corresponding eye 43 in connecting the parts of the closure member to secure the garment in position on thebody of the wearer.
In the back ofthe garment and associated V with the lateral section 11 I employ a liner member 44 formingpart of the girdle. In a centrally disposed position extending longitudinally of the garment this liner member 44 may be fitted with a reinforcing strip 45 forming a pocket for the'stays as indicated at 46. The lower edge of this liner member 44 is coincident with and connected to the lower edge of the lateral section 11 so thatthe lower edges of these sectionslie in the lower edge 'of the garment. i 1
