IMPROVEMENT IN NAIL-EXTRACTORS.
Specification formingpart of Letters Patent No. 175,331, dated March 28, 1876; application filed December 11, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LORENZO D. BROWNE, of Shawnee, Perrycounty, Ohio, have invented an Improvement in Nail-Extractors, of which the following is a specification:
My inventiouconsists of an auxiliary claw mounted on the top of the ordinary claw-bar in such a manner that it can be used when the spike is too high for the main claw, and can When a spike is to be drawn the top claw is thrown back on the lever, and the spike lifted as far as practicable with the rigid claw, which is then withdrawn and the pivoted one thrown forward. The pivoted claw, extending beyond and resting upon the rigid one, is now placed under the spike-head and caused to complete the operation, the spike being thus drawn from the timber without being bent; hence,
What I claim is A single-lever spike-extractor, having two end claws curved in the same direction, one pivoted on and longer than the other, as and for the purpose specified.
