UNITED STATES PATENT OFEIoE.
IMPROVEMENT IN FLOOR-CLAMPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,170, dated January 6, 1874; application filed October 11, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT C. DAVIDSON, of Evanston, in the county of Uintah and Territory of Wyoming, have invented a new and Improved Floor-Clamp, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will first be fully described,
and then pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved clamp. Fig. 2 is a section on the linear, and
Fig. 3 is a detail of the adjustable connection.
nut, J, for adjusting the bar B to and from the other, according to the thickness of the joist to which the clamp is to be fastened. A key, L, is fixed in said screw to cause the nut and bar B to shift together. Said key shifts along the screw with the nut and bar in a groove in Another set of pointed studthe screw.
screws, M, is provided in the bars, near the connecting-screw D, for screwing into the joist to hold the clamp when it may be necessary to release the lower screws to shift them forward to get a new hold, in case the flooring is not clamped up sufliciently by the first operation. The bar A is provided with clips N for the application of a lever, O, in casepowerful leverage is required. P represents the flooring to be clamped.
, The bars A B are placed in the joist F close to the edge, and fastened by the screws 0.
The upper end of the clamp is then pressed forward, so as to press the flooringLtogether by the plate G, as will be readily;;understood.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The key L, nut J, and grooved "screw D, combined with bars A B, as and for the purpose described.
2. The combination, with the bar A having clips N N and the inwardly-racked barB, of
the slotted and pivoted bar E having detent H I, as and for the purpose specified.
ROBERT C. DAVIDSON.
