This invention relates to an improved Russian boot, of which the leg is provided with a plaited longitudinal part consisting of folds therein, while a contracting elastic insertion is sewn to the inner parts of the single folds and covered by the latter toward the outside.
The improved Russian boot is illustrated on the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a side view of the same, while Fi s. 2 and 3 show the same with cut-open upper in a front View of the plaited longitudinal part and in a rear view of the elastic insertion thereof, and

The leg a of the Russian boot is provided with a plaited longitudinal part 6 extending from the top end of the leg down to the lower end thereof adjoining the tongue 0 of the upper. The single folds of the plaited longitudinal part b of the leg are at their rear parts joined by a contracting elastic insertion (Z sewn thereto at e and fixed at its lateral ends between the leg at and the lining f thereof, a
wedgelike leather strip 9 being preferably interposed between the lateral ends of the insertion and the leg (see Fig. 4) for strengthening purposes.
Preferably, between the leg a and the lining f stiffening insertions 72, may be provided, which can be inserted or removed through flaps 2' at the top ends of the leg (1, which flaps can be buttoned at 7a to the inner surface of the leg.
\Vhat I claim, is:
1. In a Russian boot the formation of the front portion of the leather of the leg portion to form a number of deep undulating folds lying close together tapering in downward direct-ion and extending from top to bottom of the leg and a backing of elastic webbing on the folded portion of the leather sewn on the undulations at the lower end of said folds.
