IMPROVEMENT IN PUMPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,725, dated March 14, 1876; application filed February 21, 1876;
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, BENJAMIN EBY and JACOB S. FIESTER, of Kinzer, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Pump, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a view of a pump to which our improvement has been applied, and Fig. 2 is a View of the same turned one-quarter around, and part being broken away to show the construction.

The object of this invention is to improve the construction of pumps, to prevent the water from remaining and freezing in the pump-barrel.
The invention consists in the combination of the spout, the valve-plate, the connecting- The rod E passes up along the side of the pump-barrel, through keepers attached to said barrel, and its upper end is pivoted to a lever-' loop or trigger, F, which is pivoted to the necting-rod E, to prevent the entrance of air into, or the escape of water from, the pumpbarrel while the pump is being worked. Having thus described our invention, we
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the spout O, the valveplate D, the connecting-rod E, the lever-loop or trigger F, and the spring G, with the barrel A and the handle B of the pump, substantially as herein shown and described.
