This invention relates to new and useful improvements in toys and more particularly to wheeled toys.

One of the objects of my invention is the provision of a wheeled toy and particularly a wheeled toy characterizing a two-wheeled cart with rider and simulation of a horse for the cart.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a wheeled toy of the above character wherein the rider and a figure simulating a horse are so connected to the traction wheels of the cart portion as to have movement imparted thereto during the movement of the cart over the floor or similar surface.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a toy of the above character which comprises traction wheels having a yoke supported by the wheels with a handle or tongue portion connected to the yoke and a figure mounted for rocking movement at the outer end of the handle, the figure simulating the neck and head portion of a horse. The wheels have eccentrically thereon, a figure simulating a rider and a figure simulating a horse is also eccentrically connected to the wheels whereby when the wheels rotate, a jolting motion will be imparted to the rider and a rocking movement will be imparted to the figure simulating the horse, thus depicting as nearly as possible the natural characteristic of a galloping horse and a rider of a two-wheeled cart.

iVith the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction, the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of my improved toy taken on the line 11.

Figure 2 is a rear elevation.

In carrying out my invention I provide a pair of spaced traction wheels 1 having centrally disposed pins 2 which provide suitable axle supports for the U shaped frame 3 which forms the yoke.

A handle or tongue 4 has one end connected to the intermediate portion of the yoke by means of a strap iron 5 as illustrated.

The outer end of the handle 4 is bifurcated as shown at 6 and mounted for rocking movement within the bifurcation 6 is a figure 7 which in the present instance simulates the neck and head portion of a horse. The figure 7 is pivotally mounted upon the central portion of a pin 8, the ends of which extend beyond the outside face of the handle 4 and form suitable hand grips for drawing the toy over the floor or similar surface.

Attached to the inner faces of the wheels 1 eccentrically thereof and connecting the wheels is an axle 9. Arranged above the axle 9 is the body 10 of a figure simulating a rider, said figure including leg portions 11, the upper ends of which are pivotally connected to the body 10 while the lower ends are loosely mounted upon the axle 9. Pivotally connected to the upper end of the figure 10 upon opposite sides are the arms 12, the forward ends of which simulate the hands of the figure and are pivotally connected to an upstanding stud 13 on the inner end of the handle 4.

It will be apparent from the foregoing that the figure is so mounted upon the wheels 1 that during the rotation of these wheels the figure will be raised and lowered depicting characteristic movements of a rider being jolted in a fast moving cart.

In order to impart simultaneous movement to the figure 7 and the figure of the rider, a pair of spaced bars 14 are provided, the inner ends of which are loosely mounted on the aisle 9 between the legs 11, said bars being spaced on the axle by means of a collar 15. The legs 11 and the inner ends of the bars 14 are retained in spaced relation by means of collars 15. The outer ends of the bars 14 are arranged upon opposite sides of the lower end of the figure 7 and pivotally connected thereto at 16.

It will be apparent from the foregoing that during the rotative movement of the wheels 1 over a surface, simultaneous movement will be imparted to the figure of the rider and the Figure 7 and rocking movement being imparted to the Figure 7 and a jolting or up and down movement being imparted to the rider. The device can be readily drawn along by a child, through the medium of the hand grips 8, although if found desirable a cord or the like may be attached to the hand grips and propelled in this manner.

The toy described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawing is of such a nature that it can be easily manufactured at a very low cost, but at the same time provides an eflicient toy which will be attractive to children and create considerable amusement for them.

I claim:

1. A toy including spaced traction wheels, a yoke having its ends connected axially of the wheels, a handle having one end connect ed to the intermediate portion of the yoke and the other end bifurcated, a figure including a body having leg portions eccentrically con: nected to the wheels and arm portions pivotally connected to the inner end of: handle, a second figure pivotally mounted in the bifurcation of the handle and means eccentrically connecting the second figure. with the wheels whereby rotation of the wheels will impart simultaneous movement to the. figures at the ends of the handle.

2. A toy including a yoke, spaced traction wheels on the ends of the yoke, a handle having one end connected to the intermediate portion of the yoke, a figure simulating a rider and including a body arranged between the wheels, leg members pivotally connected to the body at one end and eccentrically connected tothe wheels at the. other end, arms pivotally connected to the body at one end and pivotally connected at the other end to the inner end of the handle, a second figure simulating the neck and head of a horse. pivotally mounted intermediate of its ends at the outer end of the. handle, spaced bars pivotally connected at one end to the lower end of the second figure, and eccentrically connected. at the other end to the wheels whereby rotation of the wheels will impart simultaneous movement to the two figures.
