\\\\I I..||||| IL Inventor Patented Jan. 14, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WALTER TIERNEY, OI BUTTE, MONTANA, ASSIGNOR F TEN PER CENT T0 CLARENCE HANLEY, OI BUTTE, MONTANA ARTICLE surroun- Application filed March 81, 1928. Serial No. 286,238.
- projection having a socket for reception of the flag staif.
In the drawin s Figure 1 is a view in section and elevation showing a flag holder constructed in accordance with the invention, and representing the approximate manner of use.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged front elevation of the holder, shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the same.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a removable bushing. 7
Referring now to the drawings by reference numerals, it will be observed that the numeral 5 designates a concave-convex suc- 0 tion cup, which is adapted to be stuck to the supporting surface 6.
The supporting surface may be of glass, wood, metal, or other plain smooth surface. Formed integral with and located centrally upon the cap is an outstanding sturdy projection 7, having a vertical opening formed therein, which constitutes a pocket for removable reception of the lower end of the flag staif 8.
A reducing bushing 9 of tapered design may be fitted into said )ocket if desired. In fact, it is thought a visable to supply several sizes of bushings with the device, whereby to accommodate flag stafli's of different diameters, and in addition, it is to be observed that the bushings are removable. The simplicity of construction is such as to permit a clear understanding of the invention to be had, after considerin the description in connection with the rawings.
Consequently, a more lengthy description is regarded unnecessary.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is As a new product of manufacture, an article holder comprising a concave-convex rubber suction cup adapted to adhere to a relatively stationarysup ort, said cup being provided with a centra ly located integral outstanding sturdy projection having a vertical tapered hole formed therethrough, and a removable tapered reinforcing bushing fitted into said hole and adapted for reception of a fiagstaflt.
In testimony whereof I aifix my si nature. 65
