This invention relates to improvements in attachment for smokers pipe, and one of the objects of the same is to provide an improved attachment adapted to be applied to the pipe and by means of which the pipe may be readily clea-ned, the said attachment being adapted to remain attached to the pipe and at the same time will not interfere with the use of the pipe. A further obj ect is to provide an improved attachment of this character which will be compact and which will not present an unsightly appearance to the pipe, and at the same time may be readily removed if desired.

To the attainment of these ends andthe accomplishment of other new and useful objects as will appear, the invention consists in the features of novelty in substantially the construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed and shown in the accompanying drawing illustrating this invenl tion, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a smokersv pipe, having a cleaning attachment applied thereto constructed in accordance with the lied form of the invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawing the numeral 10 designates the bowl of a smokers pipe to which the stem 11 is attached in the ordinary and usual manner.

The attachment consists essentially of a body portion 12 constructed of any suitable material, one end of which is bent or curved forwardly as at 13 and is provided with a depending portion 14. The depending portion 14 is adapted to enter a counter-bored portion 15 of the aperture 16 in the bottom of the bowl of the pipe, and the portion 14 of the i., cleaner is provided with an opening 17 therei through which is of substantially the same u' in section and partly broken away, of a modiv pivotally connected as at 26l with a depend- 1 1927. The forward edge 22 of the flange 21 terminates short of the adjacent portion of the body 12 and is adapted to enter a circumferential groove 23 opening through the periph- 70 ery of the bowl 10 adjacent the top thereof.

The rear portion of the flange 21 cooperates with the handle portion 19 and serves as a means whereby the device may be rotated within the pipe bowl.

The body portion 12 is of any desired'` widthand the longitudinal edges thereof are beveled as at 24 to form cutting edges.

When the attachment is connected to the pipe the portion 14 is inserted in the counter.-V 80 bore 15 and the handle 19 projects over the top of the pipe, while the fiange 22 is inserted into the groove 23. This flange may be so inserted by bending or springing the upper portion of the cleaning device. 8

lVhen the flange 22 vis seated in the groove 23 and the portion 24 is in the counter-bore 15 the body portion 12 may be rotated within the pipe bowl by the lingers of the hand engaging the handle portion 19.

The opening 17 being of the same diameter as the opening 16, it will be manifest it will not interfere with the smoking of the pipe, nor will it interfere with the insertion of any cleaning device from either the inside 95 of the bowl or through the bottom of the bowl when the stem 11 is removed.
