Patented Jan; 7, 1930 KONRAD BA ER, or NUREMBERG, GERMANY BRUSH BODY OF METAL Application filed June 12,1929, Serial No. 370,352, and in Germany June 20, 1928.
1o brush body from the lower side with several bundles of bristles inserted.
Fig.2 is a cross section through the brush. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the brush body.
, The brush'body consists of a sheet metal plate a with downwardly turned longitudinal edges. In this sheet metal plate a ringshaped sockets f are formed by pressing. The bristles e are mounted in metalsleeves 0 having each at the upper edge a ring-shaped flange cZ. These sleeves c are inserted into the open upper end I) of the sockets 7 so that the flanges (Z of the sleeves reston the sheet metal plate a. The sockets f are arranged in straight rows uniformly spaced from each other. 7
For the fixation of the bristle mountings 0 in the sheet metal plate, a eyes 9 are arranged in said sheet metal plate between the rows of holes Z2 and on the two longitudinal edges of the sheet metal plate, said eyes being pressed out of the sheet metal plate. The eyes 9 are so high thatthey project over the ring-shaped flan es of the sleeves 0. Into these rows of eyes 9 pins 11 are inserted which are so wide that they overlap the flanges (Z i of two adjacent sleeves 0. The pins 2', are
, long enough to extend through all the eyes g of one row. Each pin 71 has a hook it at one end to facilitate the removing of the pin.
In the brush according to the invention the inserting and fixing of the bristle bundles is very simple, as it is merely necessary to pull out the corresponding pin 2' and, after having interchanged the bristles, to reinsert the pin 1 into the eyes 9. The fixation of thebristle bundles is very reliable and secure, as each flange d of a metal mounting is held on two sides by the pins and further strongly pressed against the sheet metal plate a.
bristle bundles having each a horizontal flange at the upper end, eyes made in one piece with the sheet metal plate arranged in rows between the rows of sockets, and pins inserted one through the eyes of each row to overlap and press against the brush body the horizontal flanges of two adjacent bristle bundle metal mountings.
I11 testimony whereof I affix my signature.
KONRAD BAYER.
