The present invention provides a prepara tion designed chiefly for cleaning and polishing hi hly finished surfaces to prevent their checking and preserve their finish.
In preparing one gallon of the polish the following ingredients in about the proportions stated are employed:
Crude oil 3 qts. Oil ofcedar Wood 6 oz. Oil of Sassafras 6 oz. Solution of antimony chloride or butter of antimony oil 4 oz. Apple vinegar 4 oz.
These ingredients are thoroughly mixed and the resultant compound is ready for use in substantially the same manner as any polish by being applied to the surface, evenly spread and briskly rubbed.
The crude oil is a vehicle or carrier and forms the body of the polish. The oil of cedar insures gloss to the surface. The oil of sassafras produces a shine and prevents checking and cracking. The antimony chloride cleans and functions as a drier. The apple vinegar cuts grease and cleans the surface.
Having thus described the invention, I claim:
A furniture polish consisting of crude oil, oil of cedar, oil of sassafras, solution of antimony chloride, and apple vinegar, in about the proportions set forth.
