This invention relates to a combined lamp and smoking. set, and has for one of its objects to provide a structure of this character wherein the pedestal of the lamp shall be so constructed as to provide a compartment for the reception of boxes of cigars, cans of to,- bacco and the like, and wherein the door of the compartment shall be provided with means for supporting a package of cigarettes and a box of matches.

A further object of the invention is to provide adevice of the character stated wherein the pedestal of the lamp shall be so constructed as to provide a compartment for the reception of an ash receiver, and wherein the ash receiver shall be mounted on the door of the compartment so as to permit it to be withdrawn from the compartment into position for use.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated wherein the ash receiver shall be connected to the door of the compartment therefor in a manner to permit it to be readily detached when it is 2 wished to clean the same, and wherein the ash receiver shall be provided with a rest or en port for cigars and cigarettes and a dished top having an opening through which ashes and cigar and cigarettes stubs are to be A 'still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated wherein the ash receiver shall be equipped with a closure for the opening in the top thereof, and wherein the closure shall be adapted to be moved into active position during the closing of the door on which the ash receiver is mounted and into inactive position during the opening of the door;

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the nature of which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the'construction, combination 5 and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

n the drawings, 1 designates the base, 2 the'pedestal, 3 the incandescent bulbs, and 4 the shade of an electric table lamp. The base 1 and pedestal2 may be made of wood, metal of any other suitable material or materials, and these parts, which are provided with a passage 5 for the reception of the wires leading to the bulbs 33, may be of any well known or appropriate configuration and or namented if desired. The bulbs 3 and shade 4, which latter may be of any desired con struction and configuration, may be-secured to the pedestall in any well known or appropriate manner.

In accordance with the present invention, the pedestal 2 constitutes a casing and is provided with'a compartment 6 for the reception of boxes of cigars, cans of tobacco and the like. The door 7 of the compartment 6 being shown in open is supported by hinges 8 for movement about a vertical axis, and is provided with a knob 9. A. holder 10 for a package of cigarettes and a holder 11 for a box of matches are secured to the inner side of the door 7 and-said holders may be of any well known or appropriate construction. l

The pedestal 2 is also provided with a compartment 12 forthe reception of an ash receiver 13. The door 14 of this compartment is pivoted at its lower end as at 15 for movement about a horizontal axis. The ash receiver 13 is secured to the inner side of the door 14, and has its upper end inclined downwardly and inwardly. A lid 16 is provided for and removably secured to the upper end of the ash receiver 13, and is dished and provided with an opening 17, as shown in Figure 2. Plates 18 secured to the side edges of the door 14 and of sector formation, and pins 19 secured to opposite sides of the compartment 12 andentering arcuate slots 20 in the plates, limit the opening movement of the door and support it in an upwardly inclined position when opened. A closure 21 for the opening-17 of the lid 16. is pivoted as at 22 to the inner edge of the lid, and is provided 'with an arm 23 which is adapted to contact with a wall of the compartment 12 during the opening of the door 14 so as to effect the raising or movement of the closure into inac tive position and hold it in such position while the door is opened, against the tension of a spring 21 which is adapted to move the closure into active position during the closing of the door and hold it in said position while the door is closed. The closure 21 and arm 23 are angularly related and joined at the pivot 22, and the sprin 21 is mounted on the pivot and has its end s engaged therewith and with the arm. A plate 24 secured to the door 14 and provided with offset lugs 25, andstrips 26 secured to the ash receiver 13 and having reduced ends 27 engaged'with the lugs, removably secures the ash receiver to the inner side of the door.- A rest or sup port28 for cigars and cigarettes and which is of substantially U-form, has its side mombers 29 pivoted as at 30 to the outer edge of the 11d 16 so as to permit it to occupy an in active position upon the lid when the ash receiver is within the compartment 12 and an active or outwardly projecting position with respect to the lid when the ash receiver is in position for use: The-rest or support 28 is supported inits active position'by the upper edge of thedoor 14. The cross member 30 of the support or rest 28 is provided with arcuate-depressions 31 for the reception of cigars and cigarettes.

As shown in Figures 1-6, the pedestal 2 is of polygonal formation in horizontal section. It may, however, be made of cylindrical formation as shown in Figures 6-8, and in these figures 2 designates the pedestal, 12 the compartment for the ash receiver, 13 the ash receiver, and 14 the'door of the compartment.

The opening in the lid of the ash receiver 13 is adapted to be closed by a closure similar to the closure 21. The door 14 is adapted to be held opened by a hook 32 pivoted as at 33 to the door and adapted to be engaged with a bar 34 located within the compartment 12 and secured to a wall thereof.

The base 1 is provided with a drawer 36 for the reception of cigars and the like, and an electric cigar and cigarette lighter 37 of a well known construction is secured to the upper end of the pedestal 2.

From the foregoing and accompanying drawings, it will be apparent that the cigarette and match holders will be, when the doors upon which they are mounted are closed, completely housed I within their respective compartments and hidden from view, that when the doors are openedkthe cigarettes, matches andash receiver are readily accessible, and that when the ash receiver is located within its compartment the opening in the lid thereof is closed in a manner to prevent smoke a from escaping therefrom and to quickly extinguish lighted cigar and cigarette stubs therein. The ash receiver may be quickly removed when it is desired toclean the same. When the pedestal is made of wood the compartment for the ash receiver will be lined with asbestos as will also the ash receiver.

It should be understood that the drawings are merely illustrative and do not pretend to give exact proportions. Furthermore, the said drawings are illustrative of a preferred construction, it being my expectation that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as defined by the claims.

What is claimed is 1. A smokers outfit comprisi g a casing having a door, an ash receiver secured to the inner side of the door, a dished lid for the ash receiver and provided with an opening and a closure for the .opening adapted to automatically move into active position during the closing of the door and into inactive position during the opening ofthe door.

2. A smokers outfit comprising a casing having a door, means for limiting the opening movement of the door, a lid for the ash receiver and provided with anbpening, a closure for the opening pivoted to the lid and provided with an arm adapted to contact with the casing during the opening of the door to effect the movement of the closure into inactive position.

3. A smokers outfit comprising a casing having a door, an ash receiver secured to the inner side of the door, .a closure for the ash receiver and provided with an opening, a cigar and cigarette rest pivoted to the lid and normally disposed against the latter and adapted to be supported in projected position for use by the door when the latter is opened. 4. A smokers outfit comprising a casing having a door pivoted for movement about a horizontal axis, plates secured to the side edges of the door and provided with arcuate slots, pins carried by the casing and entering the slots, an ash receiver secured to the inner 'side of the door, a lid for the ash receiver provided With an opening, a closure for the opening adapted to be moved into inactive position during the opening of the door and into active position during the closing of the door, and a cigar and cigarette rest pivoted to the lid and adapted to be supported in position for use by the door.

5. A smokers outfit comprising a casing having a door, an ash receiver secured to the 2 inner side of the door, a lid for the ash receiver and provided with an openin a closure for the opening and pivoted to t e inner edge of the lid, a spring adapted to hold the closure in active position when the door is closed, and an arm carried by the closure and adapted to contact with the casin to move the closure into inactive position uring the opening movement of the door and adapted to hold the closure in inactive position while the door is opened.
