This invention relates to new and useful improvements in knock-down cribs.

The object of the .invention is to provide a crib formed of a small number of elements arranged to be assembled and fastened together in a new and novel, as well as simple and eflicient manner. V

A further object of the invention is to provide bolts instead of screws for fastening the end and side sections, whereby four bolts rigidly connect the two end sections to one of the side sections.

Another object of the invention is to pro vide a pair of bottom bars connecting the end sections together with simple fastening devices for securing one of the bars to the end sections, whereby the crib is sufficiently braced to permit one of the side sections to be' movable.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a crib in which the end sections may be made in duplicate and also in which the side sections may be duplicates and the entire crib secured together with a small number of bolts, by the removal of which the crib ele ments may be knocked down and packed in a fiat package.

A construction designed to carry out the invention will be hereinafter-described together with other features of the invention.

The invention will be more readily understood from a reading of the following specification and by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which an example of the invention is shown and wherein:

In the drawings, the numeral 10 designates one of the end sections or members of a crib and 11 the other end section or member. Each section is a duplicate of the other and comprises upright corner posts 12 having 5 casters 13 at their lower ends and connected at a suitable elevation by an ornamental panel 1&. Each panel 1 1 has a bottom cross bar 15.

I provide a pair of duplicate side sections or members 16 and 17 respectively, and each comprises a rectangular frame 18 and an ornamental panel 19. The section 16 is placed between the end sections,-flush with the sides thereof and abutting the inner faces of the corner posts 12 at one side of the crib. The said posts arecut back to receive the side section 16 and provided with shoulders 20 on which said section rests. Bolts 21 are passed through the corner posts and the ends of the frame 18 near the top and bottom of said section. Wing nuts 22 (Fig. 6) are mounted on the inner ends of said bolts within the panel 19. It will be seen that four bolts thus fastenthe end sections to the side section 16 and only the heads of the bolts are exposed at the ends of the cribs. This makes a simple and quick manner of fastening or disassembling.

On the inner faces of the bottom cross bars 15 ofthe end sections are secured guide rails or runners 23 on which the other side section 17 may rest and slide when it is lowered. Spaced above the runners sills 2 1 are fastened to the inner faces of the bars 15 and each sill has notches or seats 25 out in its upper portions a short distance from each side of the crib. Bottom tie bars 26 have lugs 27 at each end engaging in said seats. One of the bars 26 has at each end, a hinged fastener comprising leaves 28 and 29, respectively.

The leaf 28 of each fastener is secured by screws to the sills 2A, so that when the lugs 27 are in the seats 25, the leaves 29 may be swung against the inner side of the bar 26. Each leaf 29 has an aperture 30 registering with an aperture 31 in the said bar 26. A bolt 32 is passed through the apertures, at each end of the said bar and receives a wing nut 33. It is pointed out that six bolts fasten.

The use of the bolts 21 for securing the end and side sections is of great advantage, where the crib is built of such woods as maple and Walnut, because holes may be bored for said bolts, but if screwswere used the w ood'would either be split oi difficulty would be experienced in inserting them.
