This invention relatesto a hollow sheetembracing with its margin, which serves as a a packing surface, the collar of the screwthreaded portion, but this gives rise to the possibility of small quantitiesof the contents of the cask leaking into the interior of the hollow bun This however not merely in- ,volves a loss of the said contents but also leads to contamination ofthe bung, and this contamination will be increased if moisture canpenetrate into the interior of the bung through an aperture provided in the cover plate for a key.

Aihollow bung for iron transport casks, consisting of two pieces of sheet metal, one forming a polygonal top cover plate formed with eyes projecting at the 'corners for lead sealing purposes, and the other comprising a screw-threaded portion adapted to be screwed into the cask, and an outwardly turned packing flange at the upper end of the screw-threaded portion, the outer edge of the said flange being bent upwards and inwards round the edges ofthe cover plate.

consisting of two pieces of sheet metal, oneforming a polygonal top cover plate formed with eyes projecting at the corners for lead sealing purposes, and with a closed non-circular depression adapted to engage with a key for the purpose of rotating the bung, and the other comprising a screw-threaded portion adapted to be screwed into the cask, and an outwardly turned packing flange at the upper end of the screw-threaded portion, the outer edge of the said flange being bent upwards apd inwards round the edges ofothe cover p ate. A-hollow bung for iron transport casks, consisting of two pieces of sheet metal, one forming a; polygonal top cover plate formed with eyes projecting at the corners for" lead sealing purposesand with a closed oblong depression adapted to engage with a key for the purpose of rotating the bung, and the other comprising a screw-threaded portion adapted to be screwed into the cask, and an outwardly turned packing flange at the upper end of the screw-threaded portion, the outer edge of the said flange being bent upwards aiid inwards round the edges of the cover ate.
