This invention relates to supports and more articularly to devices for supporting a flash i ht in unusual places.

Motorlsts frequently are called upon to repair their automobiles on the road duringthe night time'and means of illumination are generally obtained by inconvenient expedients. Usually, where there are more than a single passenger in the automobile, one

110 of the passengers holds a flashlight while the other passenger makes the repairs. However, where there is but a single passenger, he must resort to some expedient to hold the lamp so that he may have both of his hands free to repair the automobile.

It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a support for a flashlight which ma be secured to any flat surface.

t is a still further object of the invention to provide a support for a flashlightwhich may hold the light in either a vertical or horizontal position.

These and other objects are attained by the novel construction, combination and 'arrangement of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanyin drawing, constituting a material part of t is disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a side view showing the manner in which a flashlight is held by the device.

eferring to the drawings, the support is shown to comprise a hard rubber cylindrical easing 5 adapted to surround a flashlight and provided with an aperture through which a flashlight switch may extend. Integral with the casing 5 is a hard rubber lug 6 which is recessed to accommodate a metal flanged plug 7, which abuts a similar metal flanged'plug 8, the latter being positioned in a recess in a second hard rubber lug 13.

The two plugs 7 and 8 are held together by means of a pin 9 passing through a central aperture in the plugs, the pin 9 being provided with

10 and 11 to prevent its withdrawal from the plugs.

Integral with lug 13 is a soft rubber vacuum cup 14 which may be secured to a, flat surface to support the flashlight.

Projecting from thesides of the casing 5 are a pair of hard rubber lugs 17 in which are journalled the lower ends of the wire armsl15, the latter having connected therewith a bowed wire brace 16 to assist in main taining a flashlight in a stable position. The upper ends of arms 15 are journalled in a lug 18, the latter being integral with a soft ru ber'vacuum on 19, which is used when it is desired to hold the flashlight in a verti cal position.

In operation, when the flashlight is to be held in a horizontal osition the cup let'is moistened slightly and then tightly pressed against a vertical flat surface. The metal plugs 7 and 8 provide means for rotating the flashlight through three hundred and sixty degrees while it is supported by cup 14. When is is desired to support the light ina vertical position, the cup 19 is attached to a horizontal flat surface and the brace 16 holds the light stable.

From the above description, it will be seen that I have provided a convenient and desirable support for flashlights which may be employed by motorists and others.

The foregoing disclosure is to be regarded as descriptive and illustrative only and not as restrictive or limitative of the invention, of which obviously an embodiment may be constructed, including many modifications, without departing from the general scope herein indicated and denoted in the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is l The combination of a flashlight with means for supporting the flashlight in any desired position, said means comprising a hard rubber cylindrical casing adapted to surround the flashlight, a recessed hard rubber lug on said casing, a flanged metal plug accommodated in the recess'of said lug, a recessed sec ond' hard rubber lug, a flanged metal plug accommodated in the recess of said second lug abutting against said first named metal plug, a pin passed through a central aperture in said plugs, heads on said pin to prevent its withdrawal from said plugs, and a. soft rubber vacuum cup made integrally with 5 said second lug for supporting the flashlight on a fiat surface.
