Description
Patented Nava l2, 1929 usaran stares masia ,raraura BRUSH AND Mor nonnina vI-Iaivniin f rihis invention relates to an improved type of scrubbing brush and mop holder and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a structure whereby a scrub brush and mop may be simultaneously held upon a handle, for use.
The invention broadly contemplates the provision of handle body having at one end a danig-ping device designed to grip the back l0 of the clamping device which coacts with an adjacent part of the structure for gripping and holding a mop cloth. y
Another object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a scrubbing brush and mop holderl which may be readily adjusted to receive or release a mop cr brush as desired. y
The invention will be best understood from i consideration of the following detailed description talen in connection with the accom# pani-ving drawing forming a part of the pres ent invention with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity withthe showing of the drawing butmay be changed or modied'so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the ap- =pended claims. l
In the drawing Figure 1 is a planview'of the device embodying the present invention, showing the n brush and mop applied thereto; Figure 2 is a central transverse sectional view of theV device with the mop removed;
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially upon the line 3-3 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a view taken substantially upon the line 1.--4 of Figure l. f
Referring to the drawing in detail, the numeral l indicates the handle portion of the device embodying the present invention, at'
the Vlower end of which is secured a sleeve 2,
n which is open at its forwardend and which is provided with internal threads 3 for the purpose hereinafter set forth.
Associated with the handle is a rigid bar member ahaving'projecting from one edge 5o thereof, intermediate its ends, the screw shaft af a scrub brush and means forming a part` Application filed February 23,1929.' Serial No. 342,192. y
5, which is adapted to 'befthreadablyirecived in the sleeve 2' in the manner shown.
Eachvend of the bara has Dpivotally .lait` V tached thereto, as indicated at 6, Saimop ho'lding arm 7. The arms 7 are iformedto sw-ing inwardly over 'that edge-of the barll `from which the screw "5 projects and atits fgree end, each of'these arms isbifurcated as i-ndicated `at 8 to partially V4recei've-'thescrew 5.
Each of the arms 7 carrieslintermediate its .ends a jaw member 9, which coacts withA a'flpaiir Vof jawslO, eachcarriedby .anzarm lfleitending from a collar 12 through which l`thefscrew 5 passes and against :which.theforwardfend of `the sleeve 2 ipresses when the device [is carryingascrub'brush. Y ,a -j f When a brush is secured to the carrierfmenry ber the sleeve lQlis'unthreaded from the :screw l suiiiciently to permit the introduction o'fth'e brush and at-the'same time compressing the arms 7 against the baril to secure the mop rag thereagainst. j
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that with a device of this character a mop and brush may be clamped at one operation upon the handle, or either alone vmay be used and either may be readily placedv in, or removed from position,` as desired.
Having thus described mylnvention, what I clalm is cui'.

3. A brush and mop holder, comprising a handle, a shaft, means for connecting said Vlshaft in longitudinal adjustment to the handle, jaw members loosely carried upon said shaft, a bar extending transversely `of the shaft and carried thereby remote from the` handle, 'arms each pivotally secured at one end to said bar and extending longitudinally of the inner vedge thereof, and jaw members carried by said arms for engagement with one side of a brush body.
t 4:. A scrub brush `and mop carrying handle, Y
comprising a handle member, having an interiorly threaded sleeve on the forward end, a bar, a screw carried by the bar for threaded engagement in the sleeve, a ring surrounding the screw adjacent the forward end of the sleeve, jaw members carried by said ring, mopv gripping arms carried by the bar and normally f arranged Vsubstantially parallel therewith, and jaws carried by the arms for engagement with a brush back in cooperation with the rst mentioned jaws.
